Thanks for asking for them! I have a 2 and a 3 year old and we spend most of our time at water parks, Six Flags, minor league games (hockey and baseball-the Airhogs in GP), feeding ducks at local parks (watch out for the geese at the pond by Parks Mall-they'll attack!), and one of their favorite places to eat is on the Patio at Oasis by Joe Pool. I let them pick out fish food and they feed the thousands of nasty, slimey fish that pile on each other and think it's hilarious. The trains at North Park Mall are really fun for indoor things, or Pump It Up of course. Good luck and keep us updated on what y'all try/like!Mittig familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06279462524860480239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16582505.post-67069649497179586782009-03-08T21:43:00.000-05:002009-03-08T21:43:00.000-05:00Just thought you might liek to see another girl-y-...Just thought you might liek to see another girl-y-fied cranial band. You play dress up (mommas too!), have tea (decaf for little ones), tea sandwiches, scones, little pastries, it's SO GOOD!! And they serve "chocolate soup" for the little girls, too. It's seriously such a fun thing!! You can see our pics from when we went here:
http://the-bellfamily.blogspot.com/2008/09/tea-time.html

And also the Gaylord Resort is fun...we only go around Christmas when they have the live reindeer and trains up...but they might have other things throughout the year.Mollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16135983707757089459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16582505.post-84150024355278684012009-03-07T20:12:00.000-06:002009-03-07T20:12:00.000-06:00My kids LOVE going to the Arboretum, including the...My kids LOVE going to the Arboretum, including their Cool Thursdays Concert Series that starts the end of April this year. My kids have been going to there since they were little and love walking the grounds, looking at the beautiful scenery, and playing in the Frontier area. Northpark is also great, despite having no play area. Kids can truly appreciate beautiful spaces. Last, is Fair Park with the Science Place and the Dallas Aquarium (a pititully small place but CHEAP and the kids love seeing the fish). It's fun to walk around the lagoon and visit the huge Mammoth statue. And don't forget the State Fair of Texas in Sept/Oct!!

Thanks for asking for all the ideas! Good thing it wasn't the day you went. . . it was CROWDED with little kids (due to TAKS). My favorites are the Leafy Seadragons. If you didn't see it this time, next time you go, arrange to see the penguin feeding at Noon and get close to the feeder . . .she'll give you all sorts of penguin facts.

Looks like the list is pretty extensive at at this point. Thought I'd give you a few notes on some of the things people mentioned.

You can see baseball, hockey, and soccer in Frisco. If you go to a daytime FC Dallas game, you want seats on the west side . . .east side is very sunny and HOT. My kids love sitting behind the goals at the Tornados games.

Heard Museum -- they do snake feedings. My son is almost 13 now and still wants to do at least 1 snake feeding a summer with my mom . . .they've been doing this for YEARS.

There are also Butterfly gardens at Fair Park. . . also has some flowers -- not as spectacular as the Arboretum, but still cool.

Science Place has lots of interactive stuff for the kids, including a huge sand pit for them to dig in. Seems like they also have some water fun areas, where thye float boats in water. . .but it's been a few years, not sure if they're still there.

Fossil Rim -- do not go during DFW area spring breaks. . . the animals aren't hungry, the drive through time is long and it's bumper to bumper . . .wait until April, early May to go.

Wiggles Play Center in Frisco is one of only 2 in the world . . .the other is in Australia. My dd was a year or so too old when it opened, so we've never been there, but I have a lot of friends rave about it.

If you wanna go a long way for a cool park . . .Frisco Commons is all wooden, lots of space, treed area. There's also one in Plano that is similar (Arbor Creek maybe?)

Check your parks and rec page to see if there are any spray parks in your area. The kids love these.

And a side note for Ann going to San Antonio -- the Witte Museum is there and is a great one for kids. Also Sea World and the Alamo.Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08856407937546086562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16582505.post-85328972223959034852009-03-07T17:09:00.000-06:002009-03-07T17:09:00.000-06:00Hi, Suzanne. Glad it was and that you had fun.

I don't have any suggestions for good places to take the kiddies, but I can share some suggestions for you and Joe and friends that we and/or our friends have enjoyed.

http://www.meltingpot.com/ (I mean to try this.)
http://www.fathomevents.com/upcoming/default.aspx (Live transmission of The Metropolitan Opera.)
http://www.kingtut.org/plan_your_visit?location=dallas (No, King Tut isn't there, but it's still a cool exhibit.)

I have other little lesser known, one-owner or privately-owned restaurants that are good that I can share with you, too. Feel free to email me. Dallas is the "City with the Most Restaurants per Capita", so my suggestions are mostly food-related.Ms. Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01227506351246632634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16582505.post-27877544589193532562009-03-07T15:53:00.000-06:002009-03-07T15:53:00.000-06:00Looks like you all had a great time! Anyway, I have 5 kids (although not multiples), so I can kind of understand the difficulties of getting everyone out!! Here are some of our favorites:
-Heard Wildlife Museum in McKinney - lots of exhibits & nature trails. There's a fossil dig for the kids & usually in the spring there's a dinosaur exhibit that my boys love
-Dallas Children's Museum. You'd probably want helpers here! There's also the Science Place, which has a section for the younger kids.
-Dallas Arboretum. In March & April they have Mommy & Me days with fun stuff for the kids. The Easter bunny will be there in a couple of weeks. (Ft Worth Botanical Gardens are also nice, but haven't been there in a couple of years)
-Drive through zoo in Gainesville - the animals come up to your car window
-There are several indoor bounce house places
-Art Museum. I know it sounds weird with little ones, but mine really loved it.
-Most of the malls have pretty good indoor playgrounds now.
