Feelin' Patriotic...

BLUUUUUUUUE and...

REDDDDDDD! EEEEK!

Doesn't it just LOOK painful?!? Poor baby girl looks TERRIBLE, but is feeling so much better! Amazing how resilient children can be...just baffles me. God is amazing.

Speaking of amazing...I'm pretty sure that I ate my weight in food today. Seriously.

Three words: Collin's. Fried. Turkey.

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMO!

Hope you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!!! (Be careful on those roads!)

Seein' RED

Thank you SOOOOO much for the sweet comments, positive thoughts, and prayers!!! Lil' Miss Savannah had her strabismus repair this morning and everything went very well.

She was not too happy with us...(you know its gonna be bad when she cries just from trying to put her on a scale to weigh her! Poor baby has had ENUF already with the surgeries!)

And yes, screaming and crying the whole way to the OR ("Maammmmaaaaa! Maammmmmaaa!") ugh. Rip my heart out. No amount of Versed seems to help.

Sweet little Savi gets TERRIBLE postoperative nausea/vomiting like her Mama and Granna. The nurses were amazed that she was vomiting as much as she was.

So...I couldn't help but laugh when Sav fell asleep with her popsicle in hand...reminded me of another time...a LONG, LOOONG time ago.

YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKES! Who is that woman?!?! (pretty sure I NEVER put this pic of me- the day after delivering quads- on the 'ole blog-a-roo!)

Dad was trying to pry the popsicle out of Sav's hands, but she had a death-grip on it. Out cold---but would grunt every time he tried to pull it away.

After spending more time than expected in recovery, we finally got the okay to be discharged (as long as I supported her neck and airway on the drive home)...Sav is definitely a light-weight when it comes to anesthesia! Here are her stylish new sunglasses that I bought just for her surgery.

-----WARNING! Not for the squeamish!-----

Here are the pics of her eyes now. They are both bloodshot red, mainly on the inner parts of both eyes.

Dr. Norman was great!! We go for our follow-up in a week (the day before her kidney surgery)---and should have a better idea of how her eye muscles are healing. Hopefully this is a one-shot-deal, but many times this involves a number of surgeries to get it just right. So praying for that as well! Thanks again---SO MUCH---for those prayers and positive thoughts.

It's That Time of Year!

Footed PJ's!!! WOO HOO! (Ben, Ethan, Savannah, Andrew)

Gotta LOVE 'em!

I think kids just look SO dern cute in footed sleepers!--makes me wanna hug and squeeze them.

And please keep Sister Savi (& the people involved in her care) in your prayers tomorrow morning as she will be having bilateral eye surgery. (FYI- they are cutting all four eye muscles and tightening them up so her eyes won't cross anymore) Precious thing is going to have double blood shot eyes for a while, but the procedure is quick and relatively painless. Thank God for modern medical technology!

Also- her 2nd major kidney (ureteral reimplantation) surgery is a week away on Wednesday, December 2nd! (enuf already?!?!) Would greatly appreciate all you prayer warriors lifting us up during that stressful time. So thankful for YOU!

South Texas Trip- continued

Late Saturday night, we headed to Brackettville to Uncle Stoney and Aunt Judy's wonderland of a house! It was all decked out in Autumn/Halloween decor! Here Stoney is showing Drew how to blow the whistle.

This cracked us up to no end! Listen to Drew as he tries to blow the "Choo-choo-whistle"...he totally fakes it (we did this over and over...Stoney and I had tears from laughing so hard)

Aunt JuJu and Uncle Stoney had gotten out all of their boys' old toys from when they were young! I remembered all of them---seeing as how we were ALWAYS down south when I was growing up! It was so neat to watch my kids play with them years later!

Drew going for a ride on the wooden giraffe

Sav (with her crazy hair) pulled this Choo-choo-train around for hours!

Granny Jean lovin' on Ethan after church on Sunday

We headed back over to Uvalde and played with Aunt Susan & the Great Grands for a while

too cool for school, this one

Such an incredible thing to watch grandparents enjoying their grandchildren and great grandchildren

Mr. E was the cuddle bug that night! Melting in Susan's arms

Here she goes again...it is impossible to keep clothes on Miss Thang...can't help but laugh when she flashes me this smile (the little priss)

Lights up a room, I tell ya (Andrew)

Grandpapa and Beeeeen

Grandpapa and Drew

Ahhh...we said our goodbye's and packed up for our LOOOOONG drive home. At one point, all four kids were asleep!!! You don't understand...this hasn't happened in the car since they were infants! WOOO HOOO! SO nice... (and if you haven't invested in a DVD player for your car yet, I'm tellin' ya---it is worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY!)

Cheers!

Down in the West TX Town of Uvalde

Whelp...I did it! I drove 5.5 hours, with the quads, all by myself to visit great grandparents and family in south Texas (Uvalde and Brackettville). The kiddos did surprisingly well during the car ride (thank you, Jesus!). There are a billion pictures, so I am splitting this post up into 2 days! Meanwhile, its back to laundry, cleaning, and packing for our next big adventure...

LOOOOOOVE my grandparents' beautiful backyard! So neat to see my little ones playing in the same yard where I spent countless days as a child.

Sweet Savannah and her tiny baby doll (Okay, so funny story...Joe, I'm about to "throw you under the bus": I had to run errands before our trip on Thursday night so I left right when Joe came home from work. When I got the kids out on Friday morning, I noticed Sav had a black eye and Ben had bite marks all up and down his arms. I called Joe and asked him what in the heck happened the night before? Why did Sav have a black eye? To which he replied, "what black eye?"...........oh heavens. So, to answer several questions a couple of posts ago---I have no idea how she got it! lol. It started to look more like an insect bite after a few days)

Sweet Benny giving Grandpapa a kees kees

Ben and Drew with their "emergency vehicles"

Enjoying a little Saturday afternoon in the gorgeous weather!

LOOOOOVE this pic of Papa and Sav giggling

Ok, so don't ask me why---but the kids love putting anything on top of their head and saying, "bucket head"...meet, Buckethead Sav

and Buckethead Ethan

Boo Bear...handsome lil devil

E-bud enjoying a little "me" time with his beloved cars

Twinkie-dinks (Andrew, Ethan)

...couldn't stage this stuff if I tried!

Papa and his Grandquads

Mama giving Sav a piggy-back ride (someone is ALWAYS on my back)

"Oooooh...elephaaant ears"

Stephen Calvin, Jr...Benjamin Stephen...& Stephen Calvin, Sr (notice a trend? Ben was named after his maternal grandfathers)

"Air-pane...zooooom!" (Sav acting as a koala and Drew soaring through the air)

Grandpapa & Andrew

Aunt Sandra, Uncle Mike, and cousin Andrew stopped by to love on the kiddies! SOOOO good to see you guys!

Big Andrew and Ben

Here's some footage of "the clock"...Andrew was OBSESSED with Grandpapa's clock and the sounds it made. FYI: the kid doesn't have a "mute" button. Drew talks nonstop, all the time. (Its funny for...maybe the first 5 minutes) He gets stuck on certain words like "vacuuuum" and "lawnmower" and then repeats them in sentences over and over and over...(many of you know exactly what I'm talking about)...kid is so quirky-hilarious. This particular evening, Andrew kept talking about the clock ("there's a clock in there")...the numbers on the clock, etc. So funny to watch kids attempt to learn new things and figure stuff out.

Part 2 coming up tomorrow!
