We just found out my daughter who's 20 months old(after her first UTI with 4 day fever) has hydronephrosis and have to see a pediatric urologist. I am kind of freaking out about it all because there is so much that we just do not know; Will she need a VCUG? Will there be surgeries in our future? MORE tests? more doctor visits?? Do you have any tips for us panicky parents??Stormihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16361565425429411002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16582505.post-35186045474958269712009-12-03T01:30:29.621-06:002009-12-03T01:30:29.621-06:00I am glad all went smoothly with her surgery...you...I am glad all went smoothly with her surgery...your post brought the tears on! We have had to do a couple of procedures with Sam at Children's Hospital Boston and they wheel me into the OR with him on my lap and I hold him until he is out. It has not been as traumatizing to him as I think it would otherwise be. Then they bring me to the recovery room prior to him waking up so I am there with him. <br /> Anyways all that to say that I am praying for all of you and praying that you don't have to go through this EVER again!!! I can completely understand what you are going through with your sweet little angel. My daughter (that will be two on this Friday!) was diagnosed in the womb at twenty weeks with hydronephrosis of the left kidney. To make an extremely long story short, she has had five surgeries during her first year of life (another surgery queen too!). The first major one was at two months old on her left which is the bad side. She had a pyleoplasty and we ended up in the hospital for eleven days with that one. The next major one was the right side since that kidney started to get weak for compensating for the left kidney. Also at six months old, she was diagnosed with a heart murmur and atrial septal defect which will require surgery around age four. It sucks but she is a tough cookie!! She has had countless procedures: VCUG, ultrasounds, and she just had her fourth nuclean renal scan (we hate those!!). But she is doing fabulous and you could hardly tell everything that she has went through. We see our urologist every six months and we have another renal scan and ultrasound to be scheduled sometime in the spring. I completely understand how draining, hard, and frustrating all of this is. And you're right, it never gets easier! But you are not alone!!! I will keep your sweet little girl and your family in my thoughts!!! She will get through this and be just fine! =)Kristinenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16582505.post-18225975499304813292009-12-02T15:36:04.354-06:002009-12-02T15:36:04.354-06:00We're rootin' for ya, Sav. Anyway, my 7 month old daughter had a cysto/bilateral reimplant in October so I feel your pain. She had non-refluxing megaureteres. She is doing fine now but it was a big surgery for such a little thing. Sav will be just fine with some TLC!
