Gettin' Close to Mother's Day!!!

As its gettin close to Mother's Day...I find myself being very sentimental. It is such a blessing to me to share my Birthday around Mom's Day every year (same with my Mother-in-Law, Kate!)...but honestly, Mother's Day means SO much more to me than my Birthday.

Me & Sav

Me and E

Me & Drew

Me and Ben

The whole bunch...(p.s. My camera has a spot that shows up every time I take a picture around the wood floors...do I need to clean the lens? It bugs)

Liddle E

Prissy Princess

Not much to report around here...some days it seems like my sweet, little, angel babies have turned into monsters! The crazy tantrums, the attitude, the endless time-outs, the fighting over toys...PHEWWW!!! Why didn't you guys warn me?! {wink, wink} It was almost an over-night transition. Needless to say, they have definitely been keeping their tired 'ole mama on her toes lately. And, I know, I've heard---3 is worse than 2...don't even want to go there yet! ;) I'm just trying to get through each day and praying my little heart out for patience! Any of you guys gone through this??? I know many of my quad mamas have--who are always such a HUGE support system for me.

I have to admit, though...sometimes I have to turn my head and laugh when Savannah is throwing her "-tude" around...she gets this little look on her face that is SO ridiculously sassy (Here, she is giving her Daddy the look of: "Umm. Hmm. I know you want me to smile for you...but that's not gonna happen")

...yah, the "sass" is not going to be so "cute" when she is 18! ;)

You guys have a wonderfully blessed weekend!

  1. Oh the tantrums just means they are normal little kids is what I keep telling myself! I am feeling you on the patience thing. My little ones have discovered the art of hitting each other when they are mad. What do you do? lol

  9. Sav's shirt is AWESOME! I didn't realize your birthday was near Mother's Day! What a gift those little cuties are to you! Let me know when you find the well of patience. I think I may be needing that in the not so distant future.

The pics of babes with mom are beyond precious! You sure don't look like you're stressed girl!

  12. Gotta agree with Gen....the new 'do and color(right?) is SMOKIN', Suz! So cute.

The "tude" is cute a very little sometimes....then, it's like nails on a chalkboard and you feel like banging your head up against the wall when they don't cooperate. Very frustrating. And we're just at the beginning. I'm sure I'll miss these days soon, but MAN!

    Love ya!

  13. I'm with Cat. . .they approach 4 and seem like totally different (good) kids. I swear I thought we were going to have to call the Super Nanny for the third one! Time outs took a LONG time for quite a while. Just remember things WILL get better. It's just a lot of testing the boundaries between 2-3.

  14. I was just thinking the same thing about the sass being 'cute' wat 18...as the mom of 5 with two sets of twins and the girls just turning 20...the sass hasn't been cute since exhaustion set in about a decade ago! ;)

  15. Savannah's outfit is so cute!!

  16. Yep, I am so there with my daughter (3) and nephews. One thing that I find myself saying is "I can't wait till she's a teenager" you know, really sarcasticly of course. lol Then you throw in my nephews (2 & 5) and then my 10mth old. Yea, I have days where I'm surprised I still have hair on my head. lol

  17. I'm a photographer and wanted to help you get that spot off your camera! Can you remove the lens from your camera? If you can, take the lens off and wipe it with a soft cloth (cloth baby diaper works best) on both ends. If it isn't removable just wipe the front with the cloth! I'm puzzled as to why it only does it on the wood floors. It also could be a reflection from the flash, if you were using it. Hope this helps!

  18. My daughter just turned one and I'm amazed at the shift into toddlerhood.. She knows what she wants! I think I'm starting to get a sense of what is to come... I can't imagine multiplying that by FOUR!

  22. I always love the pictures of your babies! Quick question, where did you get little Savannah's shirt? I have a little boy (same age as your babies) and twins boy/girl 8 months old and would love to have a shirt like that for my little girl (even though it might be a while before she could wear it LOL).

  23. LOL - For me, w/Jenna - FOUR is worse than three was. But for most it is three. Ash is hitting the Terrible Two's early as well. Sheesh. Happy mom's day!

In case it offers any encouragement, I really didn't think 3 was harder than 2. Gradually you can reason with them better and their self control increases. I'm sure you're doing a great job! Enjoy the journey and adventure as best you can ;)

  27. I swear you have the cutest kids! I love that pic of Savannah holding her hands on her hips. I am right there with you on the overnight transition from cute babies to tantruming toddlers! The fighting, pushing, poking, toy stealing... it's enough to make me want to go sit in time out!

  28. First, I would like to say hello! I came across your blog around your kiddos b-day last year, and have followed along since then. I can hardly believe how big they are getting! So cute...I also feel your pain with the attitude. My twins are just shy of 1, but Landrie is a HAND FULL and I ask God everyday to give me the patience that I need! Lastly, if you don't mind, I would love to know where Miss Savannah got her "my brothers rock" dress...I love it!

  29. AMAZED that your sweet Ethan, Drew, Ben, and Sav are giving attitude and throwing tantrums. I looked back on the Star Telegram pict and remember them being so small and tiny. Their innocence still shines through though. Enjoy today and laugh a lot. Love ya sweet Suz oh yeah...happy early Birthday!

  36. Yep....the 3's are the most difficult so far for me! I fight the urge to pull my hair out on a daily basis:) But on that note, I hope you have a fantastic mother's day AND birthday!!

  37. It'll pass...it may seem like forever, but it will pass. I LOVE your hair! Great 'do!

  38. I totally get what your saying about this age. Hang in there!

  39. Wherever did you get Sav's shirt, "My Brother's Rock". I most definitely want one. I only have twins now but the fighting over toys...geesh the toys have to go into 'a toy time-out' more than the kids do.

    ReplyDelete
  40. A friend recently told me (more like reassured me!) that usually if your kids go through the terrible twos, it's rare that they also go through the tumultuous threes...so I'm passing that reassurance on to you! Happy Mother's day!

  41. I must know... Where did you get Sav's outfit??? We have one girl and 5 boys and I would love to get this outfit for my Key?

  42. The timeouts do seem endless on some days. And the "no" for answers or the pretending not to hear me, or the running when she knows I'm calling her to come to me. But then there are those sweet moments that make it all seem okay and those times when she does listen or does obey that I realize we are indeed getting somewhere. Mothers Day is an incredible day and I feel so sentimental about it too!! SO happy to be her mommy!!

  43. Hi Suz,
Happy Mother's Day! I hear you on the time outs and tantrums. My son is a few weeks younger than your precious four. There are some days that I feel like all I do is discipline and put him in time out. I keep telling myself "this will pay off!" Hang in there! Enjoy this special weekend, you deserve it!

  44. Love the hair, but love the kids more! They are so cute!

  45. Happy Mother's Day! A friend shared your blog with me and I've been reading for a while. I'm a mom of 3- oldest just turned 5, middle is 2.5 and the baby is 7 weeks old(thus the middle of the night web browsing.) I just had to comment on the tantrums. Girl, you should come and meet my oldest daughter! She is one of the most strong willed children I've ever met. And at the end of the day, even though I'm exhausted- all I can say is thank God that He gave me this child who seems to consistently drive me to my knees in prayer!! Hang in there mama! This stage your kids are going through is just that- a stage. And it shapes you into the Mom that God desires you to be, as well as allows them to grow and learn self control eventually. A book I love is "How Children Raise Parents" by Dan Allender. It really encouraged me when my oldest first went through her "age of independence" as I call it. Happy Mother's Day to you!

Not to discourage you, but 3 is WAY worse than two. I've heard it gets better once they hit 4, but who knows. I'm not there yet.

    Happy Mother's Day!

  47. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Happy Mother's Day too - how could those cute little munchkins ever act it - it doesn't seem possible! :) Patience is key - if you figure out how to keep it or where to get more of it, let me know cuz it's a STRUGGLE for me over here. Love that you have the snack traps - those are my best friend most afternoons when I just don't know what else to do! Love you, sweet suz! Mari

  48. I wish I could tell you it will get better overnight!! As far as Sav, welcome to the world of one little girl, and all the brothers!!LOL!! She has to defend herself and that prissy attitude only gets worse! Sorry!! Wish I could tell you different. Happy Mother's Day and just take one day at a time. You will look back on this stage and laugh, I promise! I already do at somethings.

  50. I did not read through all the comments so someone might have mentioned about the lens. Yes you have to clean the camera and lens, if it is a DSLR. Let me know what type of camera it is and I will send details on how to clean or to pay someone to clean it. It might be worth it to take it in to the shop.

Also if it is a DSLR and you change lens always change camera body face down so minimizes dust.

    That spot looks like dust.
