Savannah Strikes Again…(R U KIDDIN ME?!)

03 march 2011 105

Nice face, Sav. Translation? In the words of Cee Lo Green: “Forget-U, Mama

The little beast struck again…this time, she managed to climb up onto the counter, reach the “safe cabinet” where we keep the scissors and gum packets, and gave herself- AND 2 out of 3 of her brothers- haircuts (GASP!)… all while chewing about 8 pieces of gum (she’s got this hair stylist thing down, eh?) … in the 5 (err 10) minutes that I went back to my room to get ready for a much needed dinner with my bestie, Liz.

So, Joe walks in from work and I’m flying to get out the door when he says with a shocked look and a grin: “Uhhh…Suz? Did you see Andrew’s hair?”

03 march 2011 097

I stopped dead in my tracks, it looked like someone had taken clippers to his head…down to the scalp!

03 march 2011 098

Within 5 seconds, it clicked and I immediately looked up and saw Savannah outside with Ben, mid-cut, with a long strand of her hair falling onto the ground. Hair was EVERYWHERE!!!

It all happened in slow motion… I screamed at the TOP OF MY LUNGS: “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!” (sprinting to the door)

03 march 2011 102

…must have scared the bejesus outta Sav because she jumped, threw the scissors down and started shrieking with Ben, in terror, as they high-tailed it in the opposite direction. (its kinda funny to think about…now that it’s a new day)03 march 2011 103

(yep, this would be the TOP of my *darrrrling* diva’s head)

Ben’s awesome new do. Looks like he had cranial surgery.

03 march 2011 099

Top, back of Ben’s head…

03 march 2011 100

Hey boys…maybe find a new role model? Maybe stand up to your sister and don’t let her boss you around all the time? I’m just sayin’…

03 march 2011 106

They sure look happy, don’t they? Winking smile Those little rapscallions.

MUGSHOTS:

03 march 2011 114

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

The only one to come out of the day unscathed… EEEEEEEETHAN!

03 march 2011 113

So- yes…MOTHER OF THE YEAR AWARD I GUESS? You fool me once, shame on you… fool me twice… well, I forget how it goes. Winking smile

Does it count that the first time was on Joe’s watch?

I loved that my Dad’s text to me right after it happened was: “Please don’t kill her!”

Thanks, Pops…I needed that laugh (and friendly reminder).

So, I really don’t know a “safe” place for the scissors…after this last fiasco. If I didn’t use them so much, I would just get rid of them. But it will always be something, right?

I absolutely CANNOT WAIT for the day that Sav calls me in tears, because her daughter (or son) just chopped his/her hair off to the scalp! CANNOT WAIT.

Until then…UGH! Lord have mercy on this Mama.

Stay tuned for buzz cuts…

  4. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! I'm so sorry that I couldn't help but laugh while looking at all the evidence in the pics! Good Lord Sav! Suz, did you have a giant cocktail on your night out? Andrew looks like he is ready to be a member of "Flock of Seagulls".....I guess Miss Sav is going to have to go with a pixie cut huh? God bless you mama!

  5. Hilarious! You're definitely going to have to find a better hiding place. At least the buzz cuts will be cool for the summer...

  6. little stinker indeed! Maybe you could put them in a lockbox? That would be a pain for you to have to get a key...but might be safer. (no pun intended)

  7. Oh yeah!!!! This definitely made me giggle. She's a girl after my own heart. I used to cut my own hair when I was little too.

  8. Oh yeah! This definitely made me giggle. Sav is a girl after my own heart, I used to cut my own hair all the time as a little girl.

  9. I'm so sorry! Skye chopped the hair off all Raynes doll yesterday too & it was d.r.a.m.a here, but NOTHING compared to that!

  11. Oh, that made my day! And only because I've went through it with my own son- TWICE. Once at home and once at school... Invest in a good lock-box or safe and keep them there!

I am a long time follower, and literlly peed in my pants reading this post! You are one amazingly patient mother! Got to love kids!

  14. I would tell you your bedroom closet in a box for now. Or if you have cabinets above your fridge in the kitchen. My 3 did all that when they were younger and they are now 21,19, and 17. They really do survive.

My jaw was on my desk the entire time I read this. Yikes! That hair is short!

I keep telling my girls "The only person that cuts our hair is SALLY." I can only hope they are not tempted by the scissors.

FWIW, I keep my scissors in the same locked drawer as my knives.

  16. I am in between laughing and crying all at once! My heart about stopped seeing the hair cuts! Poor you! That girl has some spunk!

  17. OMG! I can't wait to see how your hairdresser fixes her hair this time. The boys will be easy enough even if you have to Buzz their heads!

  18. OMG, that crazy silly kid!! What is it with kids and scissors and the need to cut hair?!?

Good luck with the new do's!

  20. You have the best pictures of your children. Seriously your stories are hilarious but your pictures capture it perfectly. They are sweet. I am so glad you have your blog. What a great family!

  21. You had me laughing out loud!! (And feeling quite sympathetic for you too, I swear!) That chickadee of yours is quite the hairdresser!

  22. Suz,

Long time lurker, first comment. My 6-year old had done this at least 3 times (all on herself and once on her younger sister). They always seem to find the scissors you fogot to put up. I know it's not funny now, but it will be in a few years and hair does grow back!!!

  23. oh dear.:) I can smile, cause it's not my kids this time.:)
My 5 yr. old son saw the first picture of Savannah, and said, " who is that? Ms. crabbypants?" hehehe hope that made you chuckle like it did me!:)

  24. Oh my word! Thank goodness I only have one and she hasn't done this (yet?). It did come up in conversation when we learned one of the girls in her class has really short hair because she cut it at the beginning of the school year. If her parents didn't give her a buzz cut it must have been close. I told my daughter if she EVER cuts her (long) hair I will cut it extremely short just like the girl in her class. From time to time I ask her what will happen if she cuts her hair and she always says, "You'll cut it short like Michelle's". I hope she's really listening and never puts scissors to her head.

As for the boys? Thank goodness their boys and a military cut could cover most of the damage up and look cute on them. Not to mention their hair will quickly grow back out. But Sav! Doesn't that girl know it's going to take a while to get her hair back? Sigh...

  25. Oh my gosh! Sooo funny! Sorry I just have to laugh and I know you have a good sense of humor that you even posted! I love reading about your quaddies.

  26. Thanks for the laugh today... I know it's at your expense but I was rolling as I read. Just what I needed!

  27. Without even having benefit of the pictures, I got a good chuckle out of this scenario. I'm 58 and cut my hair to the scalp when I was about 5 and my dad was "babysitting" while my mom was out. Now I'm pulling this up on my Iphone so I can actually see the damage! Thank goodness hair grows back.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh, my! I'm waiting to see how those were fixed! Those scissors look HUGE for Sav even to manage!! lol!

  29. It's a bird, it's a plane...it's SUPER-SAV! That girl is faster than the speed of light! I can just see her..."I have to do this quick boys so here's some gum & let's MOVE!!!!!" OMG...your Dad's text is the BEST! Sav is going to be a legend at your salon! Love her! Love you momma!!!

  31. I have a four year old boy who cut his hair a while back (not as bad as Sav's job). We had a talk about how you have to go to school to learn how to cut hair. When I took him to get his hair cut, I also showed him the lady's certificate and told him he also had to have one of them to cute hair.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm sorry but that is SO FUNNY! That picture of the 3 of them looking so quilty is priceless.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh gosh, that made my day! I'm sure it must have been very frustrating for you, but at least we can all laugh about it . . . right ;)

  39. My son has cut his hair 3 times! and he is only 3 :( the last time he used nail scissors because thats all he could get his hands on. He has a baby sister now and if he ever goes near her hair I'm going to NEED a friendly reminder not to kill him, lol.

I'm so sorry! :) Sav's hair is almost as bad as my oldest daughter's hair when she cut it (at about the same age). She got it all the way around her head, to the scalp in MANY places. There was no help for it. Hats were our best friend!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have been reading your blog for such a long time, just love it.
I had a such a chuckle reading this post!!! Lucky Ethan for managing to escape the haircutting from Sav. Too funny!

  60. when we were young mom put a padlock with a combination on the scissors so you couldn't open them.

I'm guessing since they are still pretty little so I'm thinking a good tight know with ribbon, etc would work too.
