An Insomniatic Post

Sav ALWAYS sneaks down into our bedroom in the middle of the night and sleeps on the floor next to Joe. It is bizarre, kinda cute, but extremely annoying. Tonight she woke us up at 3am and I haven’t been able to go back to sleep…so, after spending hours, laying in bed, searching Pinterest, I finally gave up, got up and made myself a cup-o-coffee…

its going to be a LOOOOOONG day, folks!

So, why not blog, eh?

This past weekend, Joe had a “fellas only” weekend in Austin with his 2 brothers and Dad…even participating in their own Steece Dudes Golf Tournament. (Hey, whatever knocks your socks off)

The kids and I jumped out halfway in Waco to play with Papa and Granna for the weekend. Here are the pictures that I texted Joe with my iphone:

On the way down, Andrew begged me to take his picture (I was driving, mind you)…so, I reached my phone around and blindly snapped this shot. LOL. crazy kid!

This picture was entitled, “In memory of my sonograms”…a limb here, a limb there

Dinner at Chuys with the fam! (Joe actually took this pic before heading down to the ATX)

My darling diva and her “nail technician” (ahem, yours truly) proudly displaying our matching mani/pedi’s.

One of Mom’s retirement gifts was a 6 person, year-long pass to the Mayborn Museum in Waco…SCORE! Once I dragged the boys away (kicking and screaming, literally) from the choo-choo-train exhibit, we found all kinds of neat things upstairs!

Cowboy Drew (with a chaw of “tubaccuh” in his lip)…LOL. Ohhhhhh, this kid…

Ebud, you precious thang…I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have made it 24 hours in the wild wild west. God love you, sweet city boy.

Papa and I had a nice little tea party with Miss Priss in the Tea Party Room. She was an extraaaaoooordinary host.

Our version of “Big” (the Tom Hanks movie)…play those keys, Benny boy!

05 may 2012 191

A super cool water table…we raced rubber duckies and floated boats (I’d like to mention that I smoked Papa in the racing of the ducks~ tee hee)

The princess in a giant bubble!

We had a blast! The kids are at a pefect age to really dive into the museum and learn about all the different things. LOVE it.

That night, we tried sister out in sponge rollers for the very first time. MUCH more comfortable than those hard pink sponges that I used to try to sleep in. ICK! Little MIssy was SO excited!

…and slept perfectly, might I add---Okay, okay…I’ll confess, I warned her that if she got out of bed, she would mess up her curls…pretty sure she didn’t move an inch! tee hee! Hey, I have no shame…especially after she romped around for a good hour and a half the night before!

Ta-dahhhhhh! SO CUTE!

And that about does it!

Now I’ll get back to my pinning and researching of Birthday Party Ideas before I have to get the kids ready for their 1st day of summer school and go to work!

Side note about the bday party:  So far, I’ve come up with “Trains & TIaras” (cute, huh?) The boys told me they want Thomas the Train (yes, I know they are almost FIVE yrs old…but they are obsessed, what can I say?) and Sav specifically wants a Princess Party.

Hmmmm…should be interesting. Gonna be hard to pull off. I’ll have to enlist the help of my BFF, Liz~ party planner extraordinaire

Winking smile

Good gawsh, this post is all over the place! I’m so friggin’ delirious.

And with that, I bid you adieu.

Love the Trains and Tiara's theme. My son will be 5 in July and he is obsessed with Thomas the Train as well. Btw, we love the Mayborn Museum in Waco. My husband went to Baylor and my bro-in-law works for the Baylor Baseball team, so we make it Waco often and that is one of my kids favorite places to go.

Oooh I am so jealous of those curls! Anytime I slept in curlers my hair never looked that cute!

Love your blog and love reading about your precious kiddos! I had quick question......where did you get sponge rollers? I have been trying desperately to roll my two year old's hair (with the pink rollers YIKES) but they never do really well. Sav's hair is awesome! Any tips would be great!!! Hope you survived your day! =)

hey girl! i bought them at walgreens over the weekend---in the hair section, right next to those cement filled pink sponges. lol.

i washed her hair and let it air dry almost completely, when it was a wee bit damp, i rolled her hair up in sections: top section, bottom section. then in the morning, it is very crucial how you unwrap the sponges. i unravel it by tilting the sponge up and down (instead of sideways) and slowly undo the curls.

i never brush out the curls (or it will get super frizzy)---but gently separate with my hands. i didn't even put hairspray on sav's hair- just let gravity gently pull down the curls and it turned out well! it looked even better later in the afternoon when the curl had relaxed some.

good luck!

You could totally do a choo-choos and tutus party :)

Trains and Tiaras will make an excellent theme.
I have another suggestion though. The Olympics, if I'm not mistaken the kids turn 5 while the summer Olympics take place in London.
Let all kids dress up as athletes (I can totally see Savannah as a gymnast or a synchronized swimmer..). Choose some of the events of the Olympics and create some games, like kicking a soccer ball into a goal, running, longjump, archery (with a set like this http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4319771).

My boys are also Thomas obsessed. But what about talking them into a Princess and Pirates party? Our Princess had one when she turned 4 and it was great - post here:http://juggelingactoflife.blogspot.com/2009/02/big-4th-birthday-part-3.html

I will have to try this curlers. My 5 year old loves to make her hair curly.

I had many years of Thomas with my now 8 year old boy. It was very sad when he moved on. He still loves it when there is a younger child around who brings out the trains though.
