Bottle Feeding Ben & Savannah

To answer your questions about the cribs, the nursery furniture came from Child Craft Industries' line of Legacy furniture. Absolutely beautiful and a cinch to put together! And they convert to toddler beds, then to full size beds! Check them out! Thanks for all of your wonderful comments on our nursery! So exciting...

Recent activity:

Ben is now taking THREE bottle feedings a day and is in his very own open crib (no more isolette). He is keeping his temperature well and tolerating his feedings VERY well. Here is Joe bottle feeding Ben for the first time last night.

Sweet little Savannah is taking one bottle a day and is trying to figure out the whole "sucking-swallowing-breathing" technique. She is doing so well! Last night she took her whole bottle! And she makes the funniest/cutest faces when I'm burping her!

Look at those BIG eyes! So cute!

Ben and Savannah hanging out after their feedings.

Savannah has had enough...sorry folks, please don't get offended at my baby girl's obscene gestures. I'll have a talk with her about it! ;)

Ethan and Andrew are still doing well! They were sound asleep last night and we just didn't have the heart to wake them up!

As far as when we will get them home? Who knows...the NICU is an ever changing roller coaster ride...so we will just have to wait and see. I'm thinking late September for Ben? He is by far, doing the best...Savannah is right behind him. The little guys...well, they are just that: "LITTLE", so they will have more growing to do.

Here is video from Savannah almost two weeks ago that I forgot to put on here. I like to think that Savannah smiles for me for the first time! (Surely it's not gas or her wincing b/c she is uncomfortable...no, no....she is smiling at her momma! ha) Excuse the annoying commentary and baby voice that I use...wish I could dub my sound out! ;)

What a great report! Glad to see the babies are doing well and you and Joe even look...dare I say, rested! We continue to pray for these precious little miracles. Savannah looks like she has long, graceful fingers. We'd love to have a report on how you are doing, i.e. diabetes, c-section recovery, sleep... Hug those babies for each of the thousands of bloggers that are watching your story!

Corrie and I LOVED the new pictures - especially Savannah expressing herself.

If you can figure out a way to "dub out" the voice on your video, let me know! I hate to hear my voice with the video too!

Congratulations on your adorable little ones! My husband and I also live Fort Worht and we just had triplets. I remember how draining the NICU was, physically and emotionally, but it does get better. Best of luck to you and your new additions.

Everyone is progressing so well Suzanne! Reading your update brings back a flood of memories for me. So cool that "Big Ben" is in his own crib already. Hopefully, Miss Savanah will join her brother soon and start co-bedding. It is honestly one of the cutest things you'll ever see!
I'll have to watch the video at home tonight...can't see it at work.

I would expect Ben to come home much sooner than that! If he is taking 3 bottles/day - he'll be home soon. That is usually the last hurdle they have to cross - I'm betting 10 days!

HOW AWE SOME to watch Savannah smile. Thanks for sharing. They all look so good and I have to say that I go back to Ben's crying video to hear him cry because it just touches my heart and makes me feel like I am there. I know what you mean about voice in the video... however... it was your face and voice that touched her heart and brought a smile to her face... MOMMY LOVE YOU JUST CAN'T BEAT IT!!!! Eating from a bottle like big boys and girls already... How amazing your little treasures are....!!!! Still continuing to pray for you all and sending my love thru the Holy Spirit for rejuvinating sleep, patience of a turtle, and comfort that only God can bring. LOVE YAH and hang in there... WORDS COULD NEVER SAY WHAT I FEEL...for I just supply the thought, and God does the rest!!!

Suzanne,
That's AMAZING!! I am glad to hear that they are starting to PO feed!! I am a NICU nurse and let me tell you; if Mr. Ben is already at 3 bottles/day and doing well with them (i.e. taking the whole volume and not having any bradys/desaturations), he's going to be home WAY before the end of September, girl! Get his crib warm and ready!! :) These babies usually just TAKE OFF with their feeds in a matter of days and BOOM....you'll come in and he'll be all PO feeds!!! HOORAY!! I wish y'all the BEST with these sweet little pumpkins! I have been praying all along for you guys and am so thankful they are doing well!
Take care!!!
hugs,
Jen

Is that a special preemie pacifier? We had the big green disc instead of that cool blue-purple color. Love the finger- Too funny. Won't be the last time you'll have a "Children do the darndest things" moment!

Wow, they are really growing, I can see it in the pictures, I can only imagine who they are in person, other than precious!!! You look so good in the pictures, you have amazed me from the beginning, or since I found your blog, don't remember how I found it, but I really do enjoy reading it. Suzanne and Joe,
Thanks for sharing your beautiful babies with us!! That is great news about Ben. Moving into a "big boy bed" already means he is on is way home!! BTW I love your cribs those are beautiful and they will be even more beautiful when they have babies in them. I have to share that I was showing your pictures to my quads who just turned 4 the other day. And they just keep saying look at the little babies, they are so cute. I then explained to them that they were that small at one time they just looked at me and said we are big now!!LOL!! You guys are still in my prayers as I know the trials that you face with preemies still in the NICU and even when they come home. Keep up the good work and thanks again for sharing those precious babies.
