The absurdity of packing with quads

So, as you can tell...I am doing my best to procrastinate when it involves packing...(2 blog posts in 3 hours? Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get used to this!)

Just wanted you to see what I have been sorting through...this, my friends, is 6 days worth of baby food for my quads.

These are the "Gerber 2nd foods" in the bigger containers (2 to a package). I tried to put it in perspective with the couch and such...it takes up a good chunk of space on the living room floor! The red duffle is what they will be traveling in!

RIDICULOUS, right?!!

First, I love your blogs AND your babies!! My son was born on the same as your bundle! I have soooo much fun with my one, I couldn't even imagine how you and Joe do it. Do you shop at Sam's? We save so much more shopping there! Just wondering!

I will never again complain about packing for my twins!!!! They are 2 1/2 and I've always felt like a pack mule any time we've gone somewhere....hey...we're just a drop int he Steece's Bucket.....:)

And I thought we go through a lot of baby food! :)
Love the barefoot pics below. Dean and Cooper are ALWAYS barefoot too. Babies should be barefoot in my opinion-who needs shoes! :)

Cute pics of Ben too-love that smile! Ours are teething too! Blah! :)

That totally makes me laugh---and I complain about trying to pack for ONE for a long weekend away.

Seriously, that is a LOT of baby food!!! Gerber should be giving you some sort of kickback for that advertisement!!! And for buying in bulk like you do!!!

So you feel better, my little girl was totally barefoot everyday all the time until she was walking. And even now almost a year later, she ALWAYS wants to be barefoot... shoes are a constant battle! So go with it as much as you can while you can!

That is fabulous. I cannot even imagine going to the store to by the food. I was so paranoid with introducing new foods I had a color coded spreadsheet on what i needed at the store and when new foods were introduced for one, I might have lost it buying for four.

I use to cringe when it came time to pack when packing included doing so for babies. I never had to pack for multiples but I did pack for infant and toddler. The first time I packed the entire house and pantry with everything I thought we would possible need for the babies. Everything from food to medicine and even made a special trip to Wal Mart for new bottles of containers just to make sure we had enough and wouldn't run out along the way. Everything was packed, loaded, and we were on our way and ya know what ?? I realized something as we traveled ... I realized that regardless of where we were in our trip there was Wal Marts, food stores, Targets, etc... Anything I would need I could buy when I got there so no more packing of food, medicine, formula, etc... I made sure I had what it would take to get us to our destination then I went shopping when we got there. Saved a lot of time anticipating and packing and gave us room to bring back souvenirs.

Yep! How well I remember doing just that with my twins. Crazy! Oh well - you look organized as usual! Good job Mom!

OH my gracious...we pack for 2 and its ridiculous. Bless your heart honey!

Am I behind or what? Where are ya'll going and for how long? Walker and I are flying to TN for a week...but I'm just going to buy the food when I get there. Could you do that to save from packing and the mess if they spill/ break, etc...and the weight of another bag? Just a thought that I'm sure you've already thought of.

Safe travels supermom! You're awesome--and we don't wear shoes either--whats the point when they can't walk yet?

Blessings, ejw

Stupid request, on the side bar of your blog, can you please put which of the twins you dress in stripes? I ALWAYS forget and have to try to find the blog where you tell us your code.

I LOVED that I came to check for new updates and found TWO!! I can see how packing for 4 babies would be a little bit overwhelming (being totally sarcastic, btw!...I am sure A LOT overwhelming!!)

As always, the babies are cute as can be! I love seeing their personalities in the pictures...Ben's grin in priceless!

Hi Suz
Love the Gerber advertisement:) They really should give you a sponsorship or something...but until then, have you heard of www.diapers.com I use them for food/diapers for my 5 month old twins and it is great. We live out of town from both families so when we travel I just place an order and send it to our folks' place (shipping is free). Just a thought. Hope you have a great trip!

Jennifer said...

Wow! That is a LOT of baby food! How often do you buy it? How many containers do you go through in a week or month even? Do they each have their favorites or ones they hate? Ha! I know you already did your question blog, but I just had to ask.

Love the pics of them all barefoot! Toooo cute!

Have a safe trip!

I have loved reading your blog since before your precious children were born. In the picture of your baby food I noticed that you have the same exact sofa that we have. Excellent taste!!!

I love the barefoot picture! I'm excited that they'll probably begin 'stumbling' soon, I think, I don't know when babies start doing that, but I'm going to miss seeing their chubby fat legs. :) Enjoy you trip!

asplashofsunshine said...

I am guessing you mean that the baby food will be traveling in the red duffle bag... not the quads. Haaaaa! The babies are gorgeous, handsome, sweet, and everything in between.

Rachel said...

so how many would that be in say a week? our twins would go through 48 jars of baby food per week and i thought that was tough. have a great trip Steece's :0) !

I get such funny looks from people when I am at the grocery store loading up on the baby food...they must think I am stock-piling for the season but it's usually a week or two worth :)
You are such a great organizer! I loved your tip about packing outfits in ziplocs so you just grab and go.
Have a fun trip!!

What amazing little blessings you have!! I've been reading your blog for a while now, and I finally started my own blog. We have 3 boys including identical twin boys. It's been so much fun to watch and be a part of your journey with quads. We actually live in the DFW area and what's funny is I was born in Uvalde! My bro-in-law grew up there as well and his parents still live there. Anyway, thanks for sharing your days with us. You truly are an inspiration to moms everywhere!

Are you going to be able to make it in September? Bringing the quads? Can you believe they are almost a year old? Miss you- Love you- Mo

I found your blog and I am a big fan. :)
It's fun to live this through you. It's a bit like John and Kate, minus a few.
Also, after reading a few of your previous posts, I think I may have lived very close to you. That was before we moved though. Francescas is my fav too! Or, again, was before we moved. I believe you lived in or near our neighborhood. Small world!
Blessings to you and your four sweet, sweet smiling children.
You just seem to be so fun and have lots of energy...God knew what he was doing when he gave you four!

the packing is hilarious, isn't it? Don't you have this constant panic of "what did i forget? i know i forgot something?" when i packed for a single-night stay at my grandma's (mind you it's only 20 minutes from our house. lol!) i had an entire suitcase devoted to our 4 little bambinos. It's just hilarious! Have an amazing trip...you guys deserve it!!!

Yikes, that is a lot of food to pack. I can not imagine how much stuff you have when you add in dipers, wipes, bottles, formula, clothes, etc.! Makes my head spin.

Praying for safe travels!!!!!

As a fellow Mom of 4, I learned to scope out the local WalMart and buy it when you get there. Pack enough for 2 days and shop at the destination. Sometimes, I would send money to my host and have them stock up for me (works if the host likes you a lot).

As far as the shoes thing goes, baby feet are too sweet to cover up with (expensive, especially x 4) shoes when they aren't even walking. How else can us onlookers squeeze their sweet toes? I often thought, I am so glad I live in a warm climate. I don't have to keep up with coats, hats, mittens, scarves or shoes x 4! Make sure Joe doesn't get transferred up north at least until the quaddies are old enough to keep up with their own stuff. (Which may be like, never!)

Hello Suz! I just found your blog and have spent the past hour reading up on your amazing life and incredible journey! I am almost 6 month preggo with ONE baby girl...can't imagine 4! I wanted to say that I FEEL YOU with the kidney stones - whew...that was the worst pain. I had them about 1 month ago! Take care of your clan. Love reading about you all! God is good!

At the risk of sounding like a crazy person,

First, I love watching you live life to the fullest with your babies! As a Singleton Mom, your faith and patience inspires me.

Second, I am in the market for a new haircut and I have to say, I love yours! This may seem like an odd request, (and I'll understand if you say no) but could you take a few pictures of the cut, front and back? If I could cut/style my hair half as cute as you do, I'd be in good shape!

God Bless!
Katie

Your posts are awesome. Your blog is a great avenue for sharing what God has done/is doing/will do in your life and the lives of your four precious babies. Trust me, if I run into you in Dallas or some day at a Harding reunion of some kind, I will definitely be letting you know!!!

It is inspiring to watch you enjoy every day with your sweet four. I sense that you know just how quickly they will grow up.

God bless.

Ok.
1. Our girls (id twins) never can keep their shoes on. It's like...is there really a need anymore.

2. Your quads! Oh great goodness they are CUTE! And if girls and boys could be identical--and I KNOW they can't (I'm not one of those weird people who don't think about it for 2 seconds)--but if they could, I would think yours were, because Ohhhhhh..they all look so alike and soo cute! Did I already say that?!
