Barefoot Steece Quads

So, as I sat in church on Sunday with the quads (at North Davis church of Christ--that was one of my questions! Nice how I just plugged it in there, eh?)..I thought to myself...

I bet our kids are going to be known as the "Barefoot Steece Quads"

(kinda has a ring to it, huh?)...it is just not worth the cute shoes when they keep falling off! 8 shoes is a LOT of shoes to keep up with!

After church pics...just look at those little munchkins! Life is good.

HIDE AND GO SEEK WITH BENJAMIN.

I just thought these pics were hilarious. The quads are hardly EVER downstairs...and probably have no idea what our master bedroom looks like. (The entire upstairs is "Quadville") So, Ben was crying during the last nap and I decided to get him out to hang with mommy (which I very rarely ever do when they are supposed to be napping). I took him to our bed and stuck him in the middle of all of our pillows.

Laughing, I told Joe to go into our bedroom and this is what he saw:
Just one giant forehead sticking out from a sea of pillows...

as Joe got closer, Ben looked up at him like, "what are YOU looking at?"

and then of course, a BIG BEN SMILE!

BTW- we have TEEF! (as I like to call them) Drew was the first to wake up with a tooth several weeks ago. Just one, right in the middle bottom. I call him, my "one-tooth-wonder" (yes, I KNOW, I should have inserted a picture here...sorry, I'll get there...I'm supposed to be packing right now!) And Ethan has TWO TEEF on the bottom middle. They are so dern cute. But I must admit, I am going to miss those huge gummy smiles! Ben bless his heart, he is working on four that are trying to pop through the top all at the same time...and Savannah...well, they are about to break through as well! FUN TIMES IN THE STEECE HOUSE!!!! WOO HOO!!!(it really hasn't been that bad, YET...but I'm sure its-a-comin!)

Barefoot babies are the best! I say shoes are a prison for your feet! I gave up on keeping track of 2 shoes, so I can't imagine with 8!

I think 40 toes are much cuter than shoes anyway. Let those toes be free!

4 beautiful smiles....

Love the Ben hidden in pillow pictures.

Oh my goodness! The quads are getting so cute! Even though Ben was supposed to be napping, he looks so happy in the pillows!
Have fun where ever you are going!

We love to be barefoot at our house and I only have one baby!!! She just started walking and it is just easier for her to walk with no shoes on. It is actually better for her to walk barefoot. My chiropractor says so. I just hate fighting the shoes so she will wear them when it is less of a fight. I can't even imagine having to keep up with eight shoes!!! They are too adorable!!

I swore I wouldn't be one of those mom's who let their kid go shoeless. Now, unless I know for sure they will be walking, we are barefoot and happy! Way to hard/expensive to keep up with all those shoes!

Ben...what a nut! And those smiles after church...how'd you manage that? Yes, "the barefoot Steece kids"...that'll be your next blog title change. hee hee!

Get to packin'!

I love reading your blog and seeing how much you enjoy your little ones and all their firsts! I have twins and I agree with you: no shoes till they need them. Even with just four feet it was too much, so I can't imagine doing it with eight feet.

Bare feet are so fun to kiss on---can't cover 'em up!

Ben hiding is just too precious! I love his "look" before the smile-- adorable. I love barefoot babes, so I think the shoeless thing is perfectly acceptable. ;)

I love barefeet. I even took all my babydolls shoes off first thing when I was little and not one doll that my mother packed away has shoes. I guess I thought it hurt their feet?..haha!
Your barefoot babes look so happy! Love their sweet smiling faces. How's Savannah doing with her medical issues? Still okay?

AH the quad teething adventure begins!! Keep those Hylands tablets on hand. (homeopathic teething cure). :):)

Good luck!!

Ok, so I have been reading your blog forever and had no idea you were a member of the Church of Christ. It is funny the things that you find you have in common with folks just in reading their blog.

Three words for you - Highlands Teething Tablets! When the teething gets bad, these little things are fantastic! They're tiny tablets that dissolve as you hold them under the kid's tongue (as best you can). You can get them at Babies R Us or Walmart (I think) and they really helped my twins.

Hi, My name is LeJoy Dickens and I live in La Porte, TX(right outside of Houston) . I have 20 month old twins(boy/girl) that were born 3 months premature and they still don't keep shoes on so I gave up and we go barefoot too!!! Your babies are so beautiful and I would love to meet you all someday! I have kept up with your blog since the babies were born and they have just grow and made great improvement over the last 9 months! I fell like we have know your family for years just through reading the blogs! I check everyday to see what is new in the Steece's lives and always enjoy your updates! You are so talented and so blessed to have your 4 little miracles! I found you through the Murray Crew's blog and I found them through a preemie community forum that Jen had posted on. It is so great to see GOD's work being done!

Also I have a question for you since you said we could ask!

How do you tell Ethan and Drew apart if they did not have clothes on? I always wondered how it would be to have identical twins and to have to tell them apart.

You are doing a great job with your babies and can't wait to see them to continue to grow and change!

Thanks for allowing us to be apart of your family through the blogs!

If you really want shoes that stay on little feet...robeez (expensive but they are great) Nordstroms has them and speciality kid stores.

I just love those fat little legs. They are so cute!

The teething doesn't necessarily have to be a bad time. Only my third daughter ever had any pain from the teething. So, maybe you'll get lucky and breeze through it.

Mine still never wear shoes and they are 19 months old! LOL I can't deal with the lost socks!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the photo of all of them smiling! They are just changing so much, so fast!!!

I hsve the same feeling about shoes! My two are just now getting to where they do not just kick off the shoes. I remember last summer every Sunday someone would comment about them not having shoes!

neked baby feet are so cute! I didn't buy 'real' shoes for my twins until we really needed them (walking this spring) and I didn't even get soft-soled shoes until they were over a year/for Christmas!

I've been following your blog for a while and just haven't ever left a comment. Your babies are SO cute!

And it's Texas, in the summer time, everyone should be barefoot!

And one more thing...very impressed your bed was made! I can't even remember the last time I made my bed!!!!

At least you will find it easier to tell the twins apart while they have different teeth formations!

Time to start buying Children's Motrin at the big box warehouse stores. You will go through a lot of that in the next year with the "teefing". All the cold teething rings, teething tabs, etc. were useless after a few minutes but Motrin keeps on keepin' on for 6 whole hours! Oh, and shoes... we didn't mess w/ them much until the twins started walking. You're right. It's just more to lose.

Suzanne, I enjoy reading your blog. Your babies are beautiful and you are doing an amazing job! Keep reading! Your words are so fun to read! Your kids will love that this journal exists when they are grown up and having their first child and wondering how in the world you managed it with four!!!

Hey Suz

I can't remember the last time Reed wore shoes. He has some cute sandles but it's summertime. No shoes required :)

I stumbled upon your blog a few days ago and have enjoyed reading all about your pregnancy and your babies. They are so adorable! You and your husband sound like amazing people and parents. When I feel overwhelmed taking care of my 3 year old and 6 month old I think of you and you inspire me to be a better mom.

Suzanne, I love your blog. I didn't know you were a member of the church! How neat is that? The picture of "the forehead" was just hilarious - at first I thought you meant your headboard!!! LOL!!!!

Yay for the teef!
Hopefully you won't have it too bad. Grace never had too much trouble (even the molars weren't HORRIBLE). She would just get a clear, runny nose and her diapers were a bit "looser". It never interrupted her sleep habits or anything, so hopefully the quads will be easy teethers too!

My boys will be getting their first pair of shoes this weekend---and they are 13 months! :) Dont feel bad---I personaly like the bare feet better!! :)

I just love how they all point their toes. It's so cute!

We're at McDermott Road in Plano. Once upon a time, we had friends from ACU whose parent were at N. Davis . . .and it seems like I've attended a wedding or 2 over the years over there.

those little baby feet! What I wouldn't do for those days again. Those little "sweet pea" toes. So cute! Hoping the teething isn't too bad around there. Wishing for you at least one kid like my oldest -- we never knew when his teeth popped through until we went exploring in his mouth looking for them!

ha ha, I didn't even see little Benjamins forehead at first in amongst all of those cushions. How adorable is that.
