Its Party Time!

I have been SUPER busy this week, getting things ready for Ashley's baby shower and Joe's Big 30th Birthday Party! (old man)

I've got a cake in the oven right now---

---trying out the new Wilton Giant Cupcake Pan that my Mom gave me! How fun is that? Many of you already know, but I just LOVE to bake! It is such a stress reliever for me. I also like watching people enjoy the goodies I make! Makes me happy...warm and fuzzy...

Wouldn't this Giant Cupcake pan be perfect for those Quad Birthdays where every child wants their own special cake? The recipe that came with the pan was a wee bit labor intensive--but we'll see how it turns out! Its smellin' pretty good! ;)

Gotta get back to my baking: cupcakes...mini-cheesecakes...Kellogs K-bars! You folks have a great day and remember that tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!! YIPPEEEEE!

I have seen those - let us know how it turns out. And it WOULD be perfect for the quaddies to have THEIR OWN PERSONAL CAKE!

Suz,
I have been following your blog for a couple of months now. Can't remember how I found it. This is my first time to comment. I just think you are so sweet and have such an up beat personality. Your kids are adorable!! Thanks for sharing with us!

That IS so cute! Is it the size of like a round cake? What flavor cake and frosting did you make it with?

I too have read your blog for a while now... but this is my first comment! Your story is AMAZING, and I have to say, Gig'Em, girl! (I'm class of '07 - Galveston campus). I'm obsessed with the Wilton Giant Cupcake Pan, I want one so bad... but I'll wait until you let us know how it turned out! I'm the proud new owner of a "Cupcake Courier" - which allows you to tote around 36 decorated cupcakes (there are 3 stacked trays and they're spaced so you don't squish the icing below!) - that sounds like something you could use too, with so many kiddos around. Anyway, thanks for sharing your story with the blog world - I enjoy reading about your munchkins' milestones!

I've seen that pan! That looks like a perfect pan for anyone with little kids to have...I might just have to pick one up. :) I've used some other Wilton pans and I don't know if it's different, but I've always used the box mixes that have pudding in them. I forget which mix it is, it's not a gourmet one, it's a basic one at any store, and in the corner it says "still made with pudding" or something. Anyways, it makes extremely moist cakes, and for some reason has worked with my Wilton pans. But that giant cupcake might need it's own recipe, I certainly don't know. he! Hmmm, I think I might head into the kitchen and bake a spring treat too, you inspired me! :) Oh, and if you use a mix next time and it crumbles, just throw it all in the mixer with a package or two of cream cheese and make "cake balls"!! Dip in chocolate and let dry and even put a stick in them if you wanted for "cake pops".

I have that pan and have made several. Just a few tips: If yours doesn't come out like you want it to: I use box cake mix. Put equal parts in each side. Don't try to *eyeball it* to see if it looks even. I start with a cup in one side and a cup in the other side and then keep repeating!! Slice just a tad off the bottom part and put a little icing on it. Then sit the top part on!! email me with any questions: conoil@yahoo.com

Hey! I just found your blog a couple weeks ago.. I went to ACU with Julie and Liz so I am officially blog stalking you as well now :) Your babies are so cute. How blessed you are!
I bought the same giant cupcake pan for my youngest daughters first birthday coming up (its all cupcake theme) and I tried it the other day.. it was a DISASTER! lol So I really want to see how yours turns out.. I need some tips before I have to make one for the actual party! I had the same idea to let this be the little cake she gets to dig in to. I think it would be awesome to have four for the quads party!
Anyways, add me to your list of readers/crazy people you dont know who keep up with your life lol :) God Bless!

A cake in the oven? phew, I thought you said, a bun in the oven! :)

Hope Joe has a wonderful 30th birthday! 30 isn't so bad, 31 is worse. It forces you to believe that you are officially in your 30's.

So cute...A friend of mine did this for her twins b-day party! SO CUTE!!! yummy!

Don't you love it! FYI: a box and a half of premix stuff will also fill the cupcake and work out if you need a faster/easier mix.

How did it turn out? I'll bet it was so cute! I'm a pretty crummy baker (pun intended). However, the Barefoot Contessa kind of inspired me recently and I've been making LOTS of brownies.

Hey Suz! I would love to get into baking wedding cakes and designing them. If you have a DVR, you should record Ace of Cakes, they make some awesome cakes!! Anyways, how have you been feeling? Did you check into your Yaz? I'm feeling better, I've been off of it for about a month now, I have energy once again!! Hope all is well.

Suz,

Be sure to wish Joe a VERY HAPPY 30th Birthday! Enjoy your goodies :)

You are so slim, I would have never guessed you had a sweet
tooth.

Hugs to the quads..

Suz,

What is a Kellogs K- Bar? Is that a southern thing?

I am interested as I would like to make Nicholas some new treats. Nicholas is 17 months old now, just a wee bit younger than the quads.

Thanks,
Stacy

Looks neat! I bake character cakes for my kids and the Wilton cake recipe is a bit much if you're planning to decorate, too. Here's a super simple recipe that I use and it's delicious!
To 1 Duncan Hines Butter Recipe cake mix, I add: 1/4 c. each flour, sugar and Sprite; 1 stick butter; 1tsp. vanilla; 8 oz. sour cream; 3eggs (add 1 at a time). Pour into prepared pan(s). Bake 30-45 min. depending on pan size(test before removing).
The add-ins really make it hard to tell you started with a box. It's even great with a simple cream cheese frosting. You can't mess it up!!

That is an awesome pan! Love it! I too love to bake - I was baking brownies for a friend the other day and it made me want to bake. So I baked a cake and now I have a whole list of things that I want to bake!
I have question if you don't mind -my Dh turns the Big 3-0 this year and I'm wanting to do a surprise party for him. I was wondering if you would mind giving me some hints as to what you did for your Dh? You can email me @ sray428@hotmail.com.
Thanks so much -

FYI: Just wanted to let you know that I just did this for Eden's first birthday cake and you can use two boxes of cake mix from the store. I did a yellow one and a chocalate one and then bake for about 50 min. or until the toothpick comes out clean. It was much easier and just as yummy. You can go to my blog to check the pictures.

Oh I need that!! I am having a cupcake themed first birthday party for my little princess with a cupcake bar and all. I want her to have a cupcake cake like that but I am too afraid to make it and mess it up. I am always too hard on myself. Let us know how it turns out and take pics. I want to see if it is something I should consider.

That cupcake pan is too cute! Glad you get to try the cake out on Joe before attempting to make 4 of them for the quad babies though. :o) Hope it turns out great!!

BTW...I have a question. How do you get your "signature picture" at the end of each of your posts?? I have set up one for myself, but I'm not sure what the best way is to go about having it on every post. Do you have to upload that particular .jpg file at the end of each post?

Thanks so much for any pointers. Your kiddos are precious!! I've been reading your blog since about 4 months before the quads were born and just love seeing what's happening with you guys.

Hi
I have a friend that is interviewing with Alcon in March, and she was asking me about good neighborhoods in the Ft. Worth area. I am in Mesquite and not familiar with that area. Could you give us some pointers.
Thanks in advance.

I used this pan for my daughter's 1st birthday party with a "cupcake" theme. There is also a smaller pan that would work better for the little ones. The smaller pan makes 4 smaller cupcakes like the giant cupcake, which would be perfect for the quads! The giant cupcake is just too big for each child - in my opinion. Just thought you'd like to know.

Is that a cake in the oven or a bun in the oven?? ;o)
