Good 'Ole Pete Cottontail

Easter morning layout:

No, your eyes are NOT playing tricks on you...that is, indeed, 4 potty chairs that you are looking at. What a considerate and functional Easter bunny!

I figured it was time to start the whole *fun* process (especially seeing as how Sav has been asking me for MONTHS to go potty on the big girl potty...I know, bad Mom...but I had to figure out my game plan first)

Note to self: You might want to re-think giving the kids their Easter goodies BEFORE church. A huge meltdown, knock-down, drag-out fight might occur...hypothetically speaking, of course.

Benny and Sav- scoping out the terrain, devising a plan to attack those Easter eggs, in the backyard, with maximum force.

Let the games begin!

Drew: had to force this guy to concentrate longer than 3 seconds to pick up eggs (talking constantly, might I add)...he was perfectly fine with finding one, and trying to open the candy wrappers the entire time

E: "Uhh...Sav...you think you have enough eggs? Help a brutha out?"

Sav: Awesome bed head with basket overflowing as expected (might have even seen her taking an egg or two out of her brothers' baskets)...Savannah-"not here to make friends"-Steece.

Ben: couldn't figure out how to carry his basket while picking up eggs...love that cheesy grin!

Ethan: pretty much just stood around the entire time, fearful of putting down his brand new cars- only to have them swiped. So he figured out how to carry 2 cars in one hand, set down his basket and fill it with the free hand.

Choco-face enjoying her loot--and 5th piece of candy. (Oooooh MAN...it was NOT a pretty sight when we had to pry the candy eggs out of her death grip. Talk about a stressful morning all around! And that was ALL before the church festivities!)

...but we made it in time for the hunt (just barely) and had an absolute blast!

Granna and the little *darrrrrlin* (snicker, snicker)...I was actually nervous that she was going to throw elbows and run kids over...she's serious about her egg hunting. Not kidding.

Papa and Ben

Granna and E-bud

Larry and Drew (can I just take this time to tell you how much we love our "adopted grandparents" Peggy and Larry...amazing. Thank you SOOOO much for all of your help, guys!)

Couldn't be happier! Now how do we get all of those eggs out of your hands without causing a scene?...hmmm....

Thought this was a funny shot of us trying to get a family pic (1 of MANY). These are usually my favorite pictures---REALITY! ;) As you can see, I am grabbing Drew by the shirt which makes him spill his entire Easter basket, while balancing on 4" heels, trying not to flash anybody, with Sav sitting on top of my lap...ahhhhh...memories! ;)

CHEEEEEEEEEESE!

Aunt Ashley, Cousin Carter, and Uncle Col---so precious all in blue (talk about killer eyes!)

Me and my boys after church...checkin' out all of the new Easter goodies! (Thank you SO much-Judy, Stoney, Papa and Granna! XOXO)

We had a great (albeit STRESSFUL) Easter and look forward to celebrating with the Steeces as well! And thanks for all of the sweet comments a couple of posts back. I've been meaning to sit down and vent write about all of my feelings, but just can't find the time (or energy). One of these days. Feels good to know that I'm not alone in all of this crazy stuff called "parenting". :)

Love and Hugs,

I guess the Easter Bunny must have thought that they should be potty trained before they turn 3.

I will swear by the 3daypottytraining.com method. I can't imagine doing it with 4, but it worked like a charm on my 26 monther!

I always love your family pics. Do you always get the kids smiling along with you and your husband? Seems so!

Four inch heels? I haven't done heels nor have I worn much in the way of white since before my twins were born, haha. More power to you. I don't know how you do it but you do it amazingly well. :D

Potty Training! I was dreading it but I put my old elementary teacher skills to work and it happened quick and easily! You can see what I did and hopefully it will work for you, although I know x4 will be a little more challenging! Good luck!!!

Adorable! Love, love, love the family pic and the basket spill - but the explanation makes it just that little bit better. Real life rocks.

And Sav's dress is beautiful.

2 is such a fun age! I LOVE that Savannah hoarded all those eggs, and her smile, UGHHHH so precious.
Luckily we know a God that meets us where we're at every single day. He's walking with you Suz, rain or shine, God bless you!

Suz, just love your blog and relate to it on a daily basis! You don't know me, but we have lots of similarities: Saving faith in Christ, church-centered life, struggles with infertility followed by absolute joy in learning you're pregnant; being a "Baby Wise" parent, and going through the terrible twos. I only have one child, and he just turned 3 in February. I can't imagine how you are managing everything x 4!

It was during the last few months of 2 years old that my little guy started giving us grief, but I'm happy to say 3 is much better. Just be firm, consistent, and loving (as I know you are), and it WILL get better!

We did potty training around 2 1/2 and followed a book sworn-to by fellow church moms: "Potty Training in a Day" (these same moms recommended Baby Wise). I didn't believe it at first, but after reading it and doing it, my little guy was fully trained in one weekend, even getting himself up at night! The method gives kids a wonderful sense of self-accomplishment.

Just thought I'd pass the suggestion along! I think of you daily and pray for your family. Thanks for your wonderful testimony!

WAIT A SECOND!!! When did your babies become BIG kids???!! It seems like in just the past couple of posts, they are taller and older looking. Bye-bye, Steece babies- Hello, Steece kids!

Oh what perfect timing! I just wrote out some potty training tips on my most recent blog post. My 3-year-old started potty training last week and what started out as a power struggle has now become a really easy potty-trained child. Good luck! I was dreading potty training one so I can't imagine four. But you CAN do it and they can do it, too!!!

Just had to comment about how much I love all of the cheesy grins from Savannah! Sooooo stinkin' cute:) Glad you all had such a nice holiday and I look forward to hearing about your potty training....you'll survive and it is so nice once it is all over with (although we still travel with a potty in the back of our Tahoe for just-in-case moments).
p.s. I hear we may finally meet in person very soon! Can't wait ;)
