i call mine at least once a week and it goes something like this..

Ok, your daughter CRACKS ME UP! My daughter is 21 months and doesn't quite have the 'tude yet, but she's a total pro at the whole "defiant" thing and the "pretend mom and dad didn't actually tell me to do anything so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing" thing.
I always love seeing that you've got new posts because Sav's new cheesy grin and her 'tude are soo entertaining! (well, from afar at least- I'm sure it's less than entertaining for you!)

I saw you making a quick exit out of church Sunday daughter in tow. My youngest (third child, strong willed, not really defiant just not at all interested unless it is her idea) will be 4 on July 5th. She has been successfully potty trained for about a month. I started trying a when she was 30 months old. Yeah. That's right. Almost a year and a half. At some point I just decided that peer pressure would eventually potty train her and made her change her own pull-ups. I was making myself crazy so I just decided to let her take her time and prayed she would get it before kindergarten. One day, she did. AND once she decided, that was that. No accidents. No close calls. Sleeps dry through the night. She is as proud as can be & told everyone she saw the first two weeks that she is "really potty trained". I feel like we got a raise now that diaper /pull-ups are off the grocery list! Sav will come around faster I'm sure, but I wanted you to know that I feel your pain.

LOL!

The first picture is absolutely priceless, and the whole post is hilarious!

Good luck with this endeavor...I am at least one year away from that (is that good or bad?), but both my twins are alpha, so I know what to expect...

I had to comment AGAIN - that first pic should be titled "If Looks Could Kill" to the music and lyrics of Heart. LOL

Defiant-- synonyms ADORABLE, PRECIOUS.

I have a defiant one too.... I just keep thinking - she's sooooo passionate... which - if I can turn that to God as she grows older - it WILL be her strength...

Well, if she makes it to "older"!
lol...

I have to tell you - my twins are about 6 weeks younger than your kiddos.... and I was waiting to see how you did it... my first one was CAKE... in one week he had it and hasn't had accidents since unless there is a stomach bug.... GROSS!.....

I know my twinkies will NOT be the same! Addie - well, she already refuses to poop in her diaper... but will NOT pee in the potty... And Matty Moo... well, if it's anything I want him to do he's NOT gunna do it....

I see a lot of clorox wipes, tears (mine not theirs) and stickers in my near future... June 1 is GO day.... ugh!

Hang in there and remember... GOD gave you these kids cuz HE KNEW you had EVERYTHING they need if you call on Him!

I've followed your blog for years - since you were 27 weeks! but this is the first time I've left a comment ... seriously, this post was PRICELESS - from the vocab lesson to the photos of Sav! She kills me! You are such an inspiration to me - thanks for the smile today :)

Just some ideas on the potty training. I am not sure if you have tried rewards such as an M&M or what ever else they like..gummy bears, skittles and so on. My boys were a lot harder then my daughter, she just decided it was time the day she turned 2 and that was it. As for the boys...well..I had to get creative! I didn't do the potty chairs I put a stool in front of each toilet in the house and about every hour I would put fruit loops in the toilet(about 3) and have them see if they could hit a certain color!! It not only taught them how to aim correctly it was fun for them!! haha

Ohhhh such a funny post! I'm sorry about littl miss sav...she really will come around...not so fun for mom though! Great pics!

yikes! you know i left a comment on your last post about potty training--bragging about how my boy has been doing so well with it. wouldn't you know that he's pooped his pants the last 3 days in a row?! these kids are going to put me in the loony bin!

Mama D said...

Oh, I sympathize. My Avery is a few months older than your kiddos and SO sassy! Potty training's just one of the arguments. She knows what to do. She'll do it...when she wants to. She'll lie to me about her pull-up needing changed. She'll point at me, saying, "No, Mama!" with the same face and tone I give her when I try to tell her she needs to take care of something... Lord, I now know why Mamas start going gray!! Good luck!

PS: are you sure she isn't reading your blog!?

Perhaps when the boys get with the program, you'll have to keep it on the down low until you are CERTAIN they won't back-track on you!

{PS: boys really ARE harder than girls to potty-train! Or so they tell me. Our son was DEFIANT & wasn't potty-trained until he was almost 4. I thought we'd NEVER get there. But we did....and you guys will too!}

oh....I've got one of those, too! We survived potty training (just barely - we had a horrific incident in the tunnels of a Chuck E Cheese last summer - agh!) Now our daily battles are over clothes - I think she goes through no less than 5 outfits before deciding that one looks ok AND feels ok (she's so sensitive and says everything is 'uncomfortable'). Brand new clothes sit in the closet that she refuses to wear. Agh!

I keep thinking that if THIS stage is tough...Lord help when she's a teenager!!

shartalbot said...

Hang in there Suz!! You're doing a GREAT job potty training these kiddos!!! I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for you but don't give up!! They WILL get this!!

Ok, now that is funny! Not the defiant part but your delivery of it. ;) I put something about you on my blog the other day. I was at the hospital visiting my best friend and her baby and just happened to look to the right and there were the Steece Quads!

It's a great picture of you with your little ones!

Oh my goodness, your post just killed me! My daughter is 4 and has been strong willed since birth. I love her to death - she has the most fun personality. But defiant...definately! I could write a book! Anyway, it was so fun (is that weird?) to read that Savannah is a little defiant one, too. I have gotten so used to everyone sharing how sweet and perfectly behaved and even tempered their little girls are, that it was refreshing to find out that I am not the only one with a sweet, precious, loved, defiant child. :)
