Understatement: “Mama’s Been Busy!”

I’ve been cancelled quite a bit at the surgery center because it slows down A LOT at the beginning of each year~ but no worries, it has allowed this Mama to knock out various time consuming projects while the kiddos are at school.

After months of my husband *gently* reminding me to “do something” with all of the quadlet artwork/projects from school that I had been “organizing & saving” in the corner of my bedroom (over the last 3 years, mind you)…

well…

…Joe, I finally did something about it: Winking smile

Aint she purdy?! (comes up to my chin!)

I bought stackable file bins at The Container Store (yes, a good chunk of change~ be careful what you nag about, Joe Steece!…tee hee)…but worth every penny!

Each child has his/her very own color-coded file system for every year of school… beginning with Pre-K. (I stopped at 10th grade for now, so as to prevent said husband’s curly head from exploding, but it will go through the college years as well)…

All of their school projects, artwork, etc…

any awards, or newspaper clippings…

…all organized in a neat hanging file folder by school year

and the best part?:  When the kids graduate college and get their own place (and Mom & Dad get instant pay raises)~ I will pack up each beautifully organized file bin with a nice big bow and say: “Congrats kids! Here’s your junk. Do with it what you want.” And then Dad and I will hop on the first plane out of here to the Caribbean for a month-long vacation! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Winking smile…getting side tracked… focus, Suz…focus.

I also started work on School Memory Scrap Books! After lots of research by yours truly (my friends are laughing…I research the heck out of EVERYTHING)… THESE are the awesome books I purchased for the boys a while back, and THIS is Savannah’s pretty pink book.

Chipping away at the ‘ole pile of quad school stuff…I’m pretty sure Joe got tears in his eyes when I texted this picture:

(nope, not the sentimental “my babies are getting so big” type tear…the “OMG! MY BEDROOM IS GETTING CLEANER BY THE SECOND!” type tear)

Hahaha… I’m giving the old man a rough go on this post… but it is just because I love the mess out of him and his crazy ways.

Winking smile

Preschool pictures completed… now the fun part~ interviewing the kids about their favorite things and whatnot (hilarious answers, as always), and I also had them write their own names & draw a picture on one of the pages…

It’s a good start, eh?! I figured I had better get all of this organized now… otherwise, the kids would be in 5th grade before I know it~ and I would be throwing it all together in a big unorganized box.

LOVE THEM.

I've been following your blog for quite some time now, although this is my first comment :) Just wanted to tell you what an amazing job at parenting both you and your husband are doing! I'm sure raising 4 little ones at times can be challenging, and it seems you always keep it together and are always doing fun activities with them, and creating wonderful memories!! I have 3 daughters of my own, but unfortunately am also going thru a divorce, and I hope and pray that I can continue to be a wonderful mother to them! You keep me inspired that I can do this, and maybe one day I will have a family like yours again! Take care, and happy new years to your ADORABLE, PRECIOUS family!!!

Aww that's a great idea :) My son is 13 months old and has been bringing home artwork from daycare, I have been scanning them and saving them on the computer because I had no idea where to stash all the art :) I did buy the Ikea wire to hang some of it.. since the fridge was getting too full LOL

thanks for sharing

What do you do with oversize things that won't fit in your files?

I looove getting things organized!! Your system looks great. My husband says that we'll get the kids through school, then he'll look at me and say "what just happened??!!"
