Surgery

Whelp...at my appointment this morning, my cervix had shortened from 3.25 cm to 2.20 cm in a matter of days...and this happened, even with completely complying with SUPER STRICT bedrest!! Dr. Tabor immediately had me admitted to the hospital and I am awaiting surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. At 10:00am, I will have a cervical cerclage performed, hopefully under spinal/epidural anesthesia. The doc didn't know if I would be able to go home or not and even mentioned that I might spend the rest of this pregnancy on complete hospital bedrest! YIKES!! So, we'll just have to wait and see.

Doc said that my uterus is already measuring as a full term singleton pregnancy. So, my body, in turn, is proceeding to make the necessary adjustments to deliver soon. The hormones in my body, due to my four precious little wonders, are what is causing the rapid shortening of my cervix. But thank God that they have at least have 2.2 cm to work with..so, it should be a very easy cheesy routine procedure.

PLEASE, please, please pray for me, the babies, and Joe...especially tomorrow at 10am. Today I am at a full 20 weeks (in my 21st week) and I'm having such negative thoughts about getting these babies to at LEAST 24 weeks (viability) for now. So please be praying for that specifically.

All six of you are in our thoughts and prayers as you face this procedure. I feel confident that the good Lord will see you through it and those little babies will be fine. It's amazing how tough little ones are!!! Sending all the good thoughts I can muster your way! I hope you can get some rest tonight, and I'll also be praying that you'll be able to go home and not have to spend your bedrest in the hospital!

Suzanne,

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I truly believe that the cerclage is what allowed me to stay pregnant to viability and I am so glad to hear that they have 2.2 cm to work with. I know you both must be so fearful right now, but there are so many people praying for you and your kiddos. Honestly, once I was admitted to the hospital, I was happy to stay there for the duration just because I felt so much better being monitored and under the watchful eye of my doctor and fabulous nurses. If you end up being admitted for good, make sure they give you an egg crate foam thingy for your mattress! I spent the first night on the regular old delivery beds and was never more uncomfortable in my life.
Please update when you can. I was terribly uncomfortable the first night after the surgery, but felt fine the next morning.

Hugs,
Casey

I will be thinking of you tomorrow!! I was 24 weeks when I needed a second rescue cerclage, my cervical legnth was down to 0.4cm at that point!! That was one of the most terrifying days, but that cerclage held those girls in until 34 weeks!!
I was on hospital bedrest from 20-34 weeks, so let me know if you need any ideas to keep yourself busy and motivated while in the hospital.
Best Wishes !!!

Hello! You don't know me, but I was directed to your blog through the Murray Quads Blog! I have spent the majority of my 'free' time today catching myself up on your story! I too have multiples, I have bbb triplets who will be 2 in 1 week, and gg twins who just turned 10 months old! I will be keeping both you and Joe and all 4 of your little miracles in my daily thoughts and prayers...But especially tomorrow... I too had a cerclage with my triplets, it was a relatively uneventful surgery. I hope the same for you. :) Be Well...

I was recently pointed to your story from another fellow Harding grad. It is truly evident by reading your story of what an amazing God we all serve. The minute after reading today's entry, it was to God that I turned. I will continue to pray for your surgery, your family and a peace of mind. May God's healing hand be over you and his loving arms surround you.

Hi there...
You and your hubby don't know me, I found you on the McNulty Quads site (I happened to go to HS with Gen and even though we were not the same class I love to keep up with her four wonders!) and I think that any woman who can have four at one time is amazing!!!!! I am an Army wife and my hubby, kiddos and I actually live in Killeen (Ft. Hood)! Anyway, I have been watching your progress and you, youe hubby and kids are in my daily prayers! Like I said...any woman that can have four at one time amazes me! I will pray for the six of you tomorrow...I know I don't know you, but you seem like a very positive and strong woman and God only gives us what we can handle...he must see something spectacular in you!!! Good luck!

Suzanne,
I can't even remember how I stumbled across your blog, but I've been coming back for updates now since you found out you were pregnant with the quads. I will continue to uphold your family in my prayers and especially tomorrow morning. I will pray for the doctor's and the providers that will be caring for you while you are in the room as well. So, for what it's worth, it's another random person that found your blog. You crack me up and I'm so glad that God put these four kiddo's in your womb. He created them for you two. Blessing to you and Joe. Take care and God Bless.

When God's people pray, be prepared for a change. For it says in Philipians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." If we do this, he will listen. You are in the hands of the Almighty and he will bring you through this too.
Matthew 19:26-
"Jesus looked at them and said,"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Deuteronomy 30:11-
"Now the things I am commanding you today are not too difficult or far from your reach"
Hang in there and know that you are loved and continually lifted in prayers

You don't know me, I found you from an IF blog, but I'm a committed Christian and I really feel called to lift you and your husband and the 4 babies up in prayer over the next weeks/months. Of all the IF/Pregnancy blogs I've come across, yours has been the MOST inspiring in terms of being pregnant with multiples and trusting God. You are a walking example of the faith talked about in Hebrews 11.

Anyway, I hope you get a laptop and some really good things to occupy your time while on bedrest.

What may be helpful would be to get a little list up of some "favs" (type of movies, books, music, etc) that may pass the time so that family/friends reading your blog could lend/give to you since they want to help but may not know how.

Anyway, blessings to you!

Suzanne,

I have passed along word to people at school to pray for you today. I hope you can feel the prayers coming your way! God's people are lifting you up...

Lord I pray right now that Suzanne and Joe would feel Your arms of protection around them. I pray Your sweet Spirit would be with them right now and for the rest of this pregnancy. Send Your angels to those babies and protect them. Keep them safe. Keep them in there!!! You know this entire situation Father. You are aware of every need, every concern, every tear, and every single thing that needs to happen in order for these babies to make it to 24 weeks and well past that!! "For I know the plans I have for you." declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a FUTURE..."

Myself and many others in OKC and at OU Children's Hospital are praying for you, your husband, and all those precious babies!!

Hi Suzanne (Joe and of course the 4 wonderful babies)! I have been praying for you since I found your blog a month ago. I hope everything went well today and your babies continue to grow beyond 24 weeks. I just recently found out that I am pg with quads (14 weeks tomorrow) I found out at 10 weeks because I was growing so fast. I have 5 year old twins. This pg was natural while my twins were conceived using injectables. I would definitely like to keep in contact with you.

Just wanted to let you know that I had a cerclage with my triplet pregnancy at 19 weeks 5 days because my cervix had shortened from 4 to 3 to 2.2 over the course of two weeks. I stayed on strict bedrest at home for 7 weeks, hospital bedrest for another 5.5, delivered three healthy babies at 32 weeks, 4 days, and had them all home within 5 weeks.

So don't give up hope, a cerclage is a sign of aggressive medical care and will hopefully buy you many more weeks of pregnancy joy/misery.

Best wishes for a long pregnancy and healthy delivery.

Just wanted you to know that you have a total stranger in AZ praying for you, your husband and those precious babies! Take care! ~ Lisa
