Crib Day with the Steeces

Joe, Grandpa Steece, and Uncle Ed (directing traffic) trying to squeeze a changing table/dresser up our stairs...not an easy task!

Kate and Paul reading the directions for the cribs. (So nice to see a grown man reading directions for once! I wish Joe took after his father in that regard!)

Paul, hard at work

The guys finish the first crib

Meanwhile, Kate is downstairs re-arranging my pantry! Oh ladies, it was a MESS! I remember seeing it for the first time after my bedrest when I could walk again, and I just about passed out! SOOOO much stuff, EVERYWHERE! Thank God for Kate and her organizational skills! She had bins for everything and about a billion chip clips...AWESOME!

Uncle Ed, hard at work...Shiloh right there to guide every step. Wait a sec...where is the other brother, Dan?

Oh, there he is...just takin' err easy on the couch downstairs with Dani!

GOOFBALLS...

Kate ironing the bedskirts for the cribs

We had so much fun putting these rooms together...all they need now are BABIES in them!! A huge, colossal thanks to Paul & Kate for the beautiful cribs and dressers! And a huge thanks to Paul, Kate, Ed, Dan, and Dani for coming up to help us put them together! Love you guys! We are waiting to assemble the other two cribs for the second nursery, seeing as how I will be sleeping in a bed in there for a WHILE after the babies come home. The babies will hopefully co-bed together in one crib for a while. Then two in one crib, and two in the other. But we will have to play it by ear...depending on what works the best.

I wish you could see the nurseries in person...it was difficult to try to get the whole room in one picture! The cribs are a dark, espresso brown...they look black in the pics.

Here is a quick look around the room that I took with my camera, so it's pretty bad quality. It will only let me record for like 17 seconds at a time! Just trying to let you see the whole thing together.

The room looks great! That Kate is one busy worker bee, she is a keeper for sure! The babies have such a beautiful place to come home to.

Hey Suz! Great pictures and great looking nurseries and furniture! The co-bedding thing works great. I did it with my twins for awhile. And very interesting things happened! For instance, I would lay Megan at the left end of the crib, and Ryan at the right end of the crib. They were separated by a good 18 inches - yet every time I would go to get them after a nap or night's sleep - they were together in the middle of the bed and touching each other. Don't ask me how this occurred over and over, because I only know that it happened. :D

Another thing we always found interesting is that often the babies would sleep in the same positions i.e. arms and legs doing the same thing.

Anyway, thanks for posting the pics!

I'm so glad that Shiloh made it into so many of the pictures - I've been wondering about her! I'm sure she's thrilled to have you back to love on her.

Think your mother-in-law might come fix my pantry? Every time I open the door, I have to duck out of the way before the grill basket and BBQ tongs jump off the top shelf and hit me on the head!

The room looks fabulous, and it looks like you guys had lots of fun in the process.

You guys are doing an awesome job. I hope that you are feeling great! Still praying for you!

Beautiful beds, and table. They will surely be able to handle your babies when they get to the JUMPIN IN THE CRIB thing. First thing in the morning my son sees us and starts kangrooing all around his bed... so excited to see us and to get out. Thanks for sharing the pictures and video. It is great to read that all is going well and that you have one more task done before the babies are home. You look great in the post below as always, and love to see the OTHERHALF as well. We miss yah and can't wait to meet all the new babies...WITH OUR LOVE AND ALWAYS LOOKING FOR UPDATES!!!

It was so good to hear your voice. I've kept up with your blog for a while and feel as if I know you - now to have heard your voice I feel as if you are real and not just a character in a story I've been reading :o).

Your nursery is so cute. I know how anxious you are to get those precious babies home so you can sit in their room and just watch them sleep. That was always one of my favorite things to do with my children (who happen to be in college now). Enjoy every minute - the time flies by very quickly!

Thank you for sharing your life with us strangers. ~ Debbie

I love it! It's perfect for a boy/girl nursery. This is random, but your in-laws have the most beautiful names! Kate and Paul have always been two of my most favorite names. I just named my newborn daughter Anna Kate, and I would have named her just Kate if I could be certain that people would call her Kate and not Katie. You have great names in your family! (My sweet in-laws are named Ralph and Patricia... try coming up with a namesake out of that!).

Suz, I was crackin' up at the pantry picture. Ya know what I decided to do the day baby D (Isaac) and baby B (Brooks) came home? Clean the pantry! It too was driving me crazy, and I knew that I had to have some order in the house before I was swamped with 4 babies. Glad your MIL was ahead of the game, so you won't have babies waiting on their mama to pick them up while you clean the pantry!

WOW - these are beautiful. I know you don't have a clue who I am - but I got your blog from my sister in law! I have been watching for months now and not that I am on bed rest at home with twins - check in all the time to see how your family is doing. Thanks for being so positive and for showing your faith online. It has been refreshing and extrememly encouraging!

The nursery looks awesome! Everyone did a great job. I can't believe your quads are 3 weeks old already. It goes by so fast. My precious daughter is already 6 months old. I remember going out with her at 3 weeks...just like it was yesterday. Enjoy them!! I know you will.

Hey I thought I would pass along something that someone did for me when I had my last child that was so cool and you may enjoy too. All of us mom's are so proud of our babies decor- a friend of mine went out and got material that matched our bedding and made me a tote type diaper bag. Of course I thought it was the best but the best part of it was that I was able to show others what my baby's bedding looked like with out having a million germs and people in my home. This may appeal to you with bringing home preemies. Just a thought and I sure with all of your great friends someone has the awesome talent. I love the ticker that shows how old the babies are (very cool). Any word on when they feel the babies will come home? I know for my bro. and sister in law who had a 24weeker were surprised how quickly it happened.

Blessings to your family!
Melissa
