Late September? HA!

What was I thinking when I said "we might get Ben home around late September..." hahaha...

More like, "IN A COUPLE OF DAYS!!!" WOW! And Savannah will follow a few days after!!! HOLY COW! We weren't expecting it to be so soon! But we are absolutely thrilled! and excited and nervous and anxious...

The little guys, Ethan and Andrew, are progressing rapidly as well! So it won't be long before all four of them are all snug in their wee little cribs! WOW!

Can't wait to post new pics! Ben and Savannah are co-bedding together in an open crib! Ethan and Andrew are both off of their nasal cannulas (oxygen) and are in the same crib together! (They are too small to be in an open crib just yet) It is sooooooo neat to see the babies together! They are doing so well! The twins are MUCH less agitated and it was so cute to watch them looking at each other, nose-to-nose...like, "hey! i remember you! you look just like me!" ADORABLE! I could stand there and stare at them all day long!

They only thing I'm nervous about is being able to get back up to the NICU to see my other babies once Ben gets home...babies are not allowed in the NICU...so Joe and I will have to take turns, or get someone to come watch Ben for a couple of hours. We are so excited to try this whole parenting thing out on just one or two kids at first...what a breeze! ha! Hopefully by the time the other two get home, we will have a nice little schedule going.

Anywhoo...I know you guys want pics asap, so I'll work on that. Meanwhile I am sorting through the MOUND of goodies and registry stuff that our church gave us today! NORTH DAVIS, YOU ARE AWESOME!!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!

Holy Cow! What a Blessing! I am so very proud of all of you! Try not to stress about the babies at home and the need to be at the NICU. God has a plan, I promise; so just take one step and one day at a time. You can do this! I bet all your supporting quad mama's will be writing and sharing how they managed to get through this especially trying time! As always, please don't hesitate to let McMoms know what we can do for you and Joe.

Feel free to email or call me anytime that is convenient for you!

Love ya!

I was thinking you were a little crazy too when you said late September! Based on all of the good news, I knew it would be much sooner! YEAH BABIES!! My triplets were staggered when they came home which was so helpful. It is difficult to split your time but hopefully everyone will be home soon!

That is great news! I know it will be easier on you being able to adjust to them one at a time coming home from the hospital. I just know you are going to do great with all four (maybe overwhelming at first, but I have no doubt you can handle it). I didn't get to post on your last blog but I love the video of Savannah smiling at you:) Your kids are precious!!!

That is great news!! Congrats!! I know it will be hard having him home when they other 3 are still in the hospital but I am sure you will have help. My boys actually came home together. It was funny because we thought we were only bring one of them home and then we were getting ready and we got a call that our other son was coming home also. You would think I would have not been nervous about bringing 2 home at the same time since I already had twins but I was. My twins came home a week apart so it was new experience for me. It was hard at first having the boys home and still having a baby in the NICU but she came home 3 weeks later. I guess she decided she was not letting them get to comfortable without her!!LOL!! I can't wait to see new pics. I look forward to your updates!

Celebraring in Indiana tonight with the Steece Texans. Unbelievable. Oh Suz, it's going to be such a blast to have babies in your home. Get out that Dreft and wash those crib sheets. Keep that great attitude, and don't let any negative remarks keep you from celebrating this amazing miracle from God. Glad to hear you've been dumped on from the church. Getting the mail is going to be a fun time for the next few weeks! Oh yeah, I was thinking of you today as I opened my LAST package of Swaddlers (does your NICU use those?) If not, don't try them, cuz you'll love them and not want anything else. They quit making them at size 2 and we're going to size 3s. Sadness.

Oh Suz - I'm with Nurse Jen, I knew little Ben wouldn't stay away that long!

Our NICU made an exception when we took Morgan home before her twin brother, Tanner. He was in 81 days (to her 56) - so it was a lengthy stretch. I would pack up Morgan and the double stroller and head to the hospital. When we got the hospital, I would put Morgan in the back of the stroller (it would lie flat), and all the "stuff" in the front seat. I'd then stroll into the nursury and "park" near Tanner's crib. I know it's different with 4 - but wanted to share...

Best of luck - I'm so excited for you guys. It's so scary when they come home - but it was a nice transition to only have one (for awhile).

Prayers!

Hey Suz,
I do not know you, but I have followed your blog for months. I have identical twin girls who are now two. One of the girls came home 4 weeks before the other. My Mom would come over and watch the baby so I could go to the hospital during the day and see the other one. Then, when my husband would get home we would go together and take turns sitting in the hall with the baby. There were also days when we would let my Mom watch the baby at home, while we went to the hospital together in the evenings. If you do not have family around, going to the hospital in the evenings might work out better. All I can say is it's best to spend as much time at the hospital as possible in order to get those babies all home! They truly know when you are up there... my daughter that was in the hospital the longest, came home almost one month earlier than doctors predicted (she had some serious surgeries)and I was told that by me going up there everyday and spending so much time with her helped her in her recovery. Best of luck .... you will be an excellent Mom!

I have been reading for a little while on the updates on the quads...and I am commenting because I wanted you to know that I am so excited for you guys. That is such a great thing that Ben and Savannah are doing so well and that they get to come home soon! I think that having only two will be a good and hard thing all at the same time. It will definitely be hard to have the little ones still in NICU but will be nice to get slowly adjusted to babies...You are going to be a great mom (and dad) I can tell just by your posts! The Lord bless your family!

Ben is obviously am overachiever! Yay for you. It is so amazing to get them home and have them really be yours. I agree getting some time to break yourselves in will also be nice. The NICU really does force babies to be on a schedule so keep theres! Still thinking of you, and obviously enjoying the pictures! You look amazing and the babies are beautiful!

Yay, that is AWESOME. I though of you yesterday. I was talking to this precious little ringbearer at the wedding I was coordinating. He has an older sister and brother who are twins, around 7 years old and he is 4 years old. He told me that he was the little brother and that the other two "matched." I thought that was the cutest thing to hear a little boy describe his twin sister and brother that way, who looked very much alike. That's what Ben and Savannah can say about the twins - "We're the sister and brother and they match!"

Good to hear that you are nervous, anxious, and excited about the babies coming home. I feel better! I brought my two babies home almost 4 years apart (haaa) and felt that way. Your precious babies are incredibly lucky to see your smile every day of their lives... and Daddy too. Wonderful news that all four are growing like little daisies and coming home soon.

Hi. I just started reading your blog last week and I love your story. It is absolutely amazing!! I found your blog through Sunni's at The Flying Mum. I think you know her or her sister or something. Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and say hi and let you know how in awe I am of your life. Congratulations on getting Ben home soon!!

That is wonderful news! It just goes to show how wonderfully you took care of them in your belly and the power of prayer! I'm so happy for you!

How exciting! Perhaps someone from your church could arrange something to help you out with getting to see the other babies? Maybe they could just take shifts on meeting you at the hospital and watch Ben while he is in the carrier in the waiting room for a little bit while you see your other children. Or even just watch him at home.

I am so glad your babies are doing well. Praise the Lord! It is good you will be able to ease into having them at home-although I know you would like to be able to be with them all! I have 5 kids, but I couldn't imagine having them all at once!!:-) I have enjoyed your story so much-

I wondered about that date when you mentioned it, I thought "no they will be home before that!" but then I thought "well, maybe so I don't know much about premie quads". I am glad they will be home soon so you can snuggle to your hearts content. I bet you can find someone ( or a few hundred people) who will be willing to babysit so you can go see your other babies in the NICU! Rest up, you are going to be busy soon! Blessings!

I'm so excited for the new journey your life is about to take! I hope you're going to have LOTS of help! We had family with us constantly for almost the first 2 months. After that there were wonderful ladies from church that came in shifts all day during the week, and our church took up donations to pay for us to have a night nanny. What a lifesaver that was! Having a night nanny allowed us to get some sleep every now and then which was crucial since the babies never slept at the same time! You guys are in our prayers!

LOL!! I wasn't going to say anything when you mentioned late September, but I was like, "Girl...you might want to be looking more at next week on that one" :D That's just how NICU life usually works.

That is soooo exciting!! They will all be home together in a flash..you just watch.

Came across your blog while researching on quads... a friend of mine is pregnant with quads! I am sucked in to your adorable little family. I am 27 with 2 children (bothe under 2) and my husband and I work with a college ministry called Campus Outreach in Greensboro. Last might he said I had a quad addiction! I am just so amazed by it all... and the fact that there are young hip girls my age out there having 4 babies!! I am praying for your sweet family and that they will all be home soon!
