Food? Showers?...Who needs 'em?

Do you have time to eat?

At the beginning, NO! The sweet volunteers who would come over were getting worried about me and my eating. I just didn't have time! When I tell you that by the time we would finish feeding the quads, we would only have about 30 minutes (if that) before it was time to feed them again. They were eating every 3 hours!!! We also had to diaper them and put them back to nap---so, I was VERY bad about making myself eat in the beginning!

That only lasted one or two months. It was hard NOT to eat when the church brought over amazing meals with tons of sides and deserts! They brought over food for us for months and months and months! Without their help, we probably would be 50 pounds lighter right now! haha

Now, I have healthy eating habits (for the most part). I am NO health nut! Just remember- everything in moderation. And exercise? Are you kidding me? NOPE--nothing--not yet! But I'll get into that in another question later...

Do you get a daily shower?

I COULD...NOW. At first, the longest I probably went without a shower is 4 days. I KNOW! When you bring home one month old quads--you are in SURVIVAL MODE. I did NOT need a shower to SURVIVE! I needed sleep! I didn't eat, b/c I would sleep for that 30 minutes! Sleep Sleep Sleep!

Yes, I COULD take a shower every day--but to be honest, it is more like every other day.

What is your favorite part of the day with the quaddies?

Gosh, this is a tough one...there are so many. I would have to say, early in the morning when I go to get them out of their cribs. (You parents know what I'm talking about) There is no better feeling in this world, than when your child sees your face, and instantly grins from ear to ear while letting out a little squeal of excitement! LOVE IT.

I also love reading time, when I sit them at the table and read them books. They get SO excited and are quiet--listening and hanging on every word I say! It is precious. They LOVE books!

I also love when I pick up a child who has been sleeping and they are all warm and cuddly...dead weight hanging in your arms...little cheek on your shoulder...sleepy eyes...tired grin....ahhhhh.....heart melting...

I will post pics soon...sorry! So much to do! More traveling on the open road! Oh, and the photographer couldn't make it today...but we are trying to reschedule soon!

I agree. There is nothing better then your baby waking up and giving you a heart melting grin!

I love that, too...when you go to get them out of their bed and they have the biggest smile on their face. So sweet! :-)

That's the best - the dead weight little sleepy baby on your shoulder. And I love that big grin when I walk into her room in the morning. Just precious!

Hope you are having a great day!

Showers and eating? Yep, they are over-rated! I think you were doing pretty good with that 30 minute window between feedings. Sometimes that is all I would get with one.

My daughter was the slowest eater, EVER!!! She could nurse for an hour or two and then start all over. And, don't get me started on the "cluster feedings."

It's a good thing the internet isn't scratch and sniff, or there would be a lot of mommas that wouldn't put up their pictures.

i nearly died from sleep deprivation when my singleton was born (okay...maybe a little exaggeration going on...) so i am in awe of you surviving 4 newborns!

i stumbled upon your blog a few months ago and enjoy reading it. i say a prayer for you and your family everytime i do, too!

Okay - so I only had twins and no stay in the NICU unit - but they came home on Day 4 having lost a full pound since birth - they weighed 5 1/2 pounds each. The Dr. wanted them to eat (nurse) every two hours until they regained that lost pound! I can totally relate to you only have 30 minutes between feeds to sleep/eat/shower etc. I had 45 minutes between my every two hour feedings. Thank goodness, it DOES get better!

Take care Suz! Thanks for sharing as always!

i love your blog by the way...
i use mine as a source of journal, i find it easier to type!

i agree...the best part of a baby is when they are all snuggled up on your chest with that little cheek on your sholder...especially when one little arm wraps around your neck...my heart melts.

i have one- almost two months...and i can't wait for another, you were certainly blessed with your bunch all at once!

i used to live in dallas (smu) and believe that texas only has the nicest, most giving, willing, and wonderful people- you couldn't be in a better place to raise your chilren!

God Bless!

I did not think I was the only mom. I get all teary when I see my 4 month old right in the morning, and he has that little grin ear to eat, his legs and arms just start flapping a hundred miles an hour with the excitement of seeing mama's face. I can only imagine what it would be like to see 4 shining faces smiling at you =) That is the best!

I second that! My hubby and I both get the twins up in the morning before work and I hate it if I don't get in the room first...I love seeing their first smile or even to get the peek in if they aren't awake quite yet. They are so sweet and precious!

OK - don't know if my comment went through.

I just LOVE your honesty! To be honest myself I have given up a shower or two to close my eyes for a few minutes and ditto when it comes time to eat! (And I've had two but not at the same time! Ha ha)

I also love the morning in the crib thing - naps too and sleepy baby!!

Mornings are always precious with a baby. They seem so happy at that time.

Oh! I love getting the kids up from a sleep session! There's nothing better than entering a room to be greeted by a chorus of excited "MOMMA"s! And, I still only shower about every other day! There are just too many other things to do in the day! Who has time for showers?
