Halloween Sneak Peak...

Time to myself? What's that? Last week, I tried to sit down one day and work on my Beth Moore Bible study while the kids were playing. I knew I wouldn't be left alone for long--but figured I would give it a shot. It had been one of those mornings where I just couldn't hear myself think...lots of time outs...lots of temper tantrums.

I grabbed my cup-o-Joe and sat at the dining room table with the necessary items. Ethan and Andrew were off playing quietly by themselves (as usual) while Ben and Savannah were by my side at all times (as usual). I could hear B & S around me, chatting with themselves and moving the chairs- but I tried to focus on what I was doing, tuning everything out, Mommy's quiet time, just God and me...after a couple of minutes, I looked up and saw this:

Ben and Sav had grabbed their milk cups (that they are supposed to keep in the kitchen) and had pulled up a comfy seat right next to Mama and her coffee. They weren't saying a word, just sitting there with me as I read quietly to myself. Those faces! How could I try to ignore those sweet faces!? Its funny- the little life lessons you can learn in any situation.

What else is "funny"? How the kids can be little demons one second, and turn around to be the sweetest little angels the next...WELCOME TO THE TWO'S! and THREE'S! and "(okay, so enter your own age here...)" you get the picture. And yes- I've got the video footage to prove it. One of these days I'll have to post a video montage of the Steece Quads' Greatest Hits "Fits".

Super excited about Halloween this year! It will be the first time that the kids will be able to get out and participate~ WOO HOO! Even when my children were still in the NICU, the nurses and I would sit around and dream of different Halloween ideas for 3 boys and 1 girl! So, before the kids start telling ME what they want to be, I just HAD to get in the perfect costume ensemble...

(Here's a sneak peak!)

Yep, its been done before...its not "original"...but gosh darn it---they are the cutest little Scarecrow, Tin-Man, Lion, and Dorothy that I've EVER seen! Can you pair the character with the Steece quad? (Here's a hint: their personalities match their costumes!)

Suz,

Here's my guess: Sav=Dorothy of course, Ben = Lion, Andrew = Scarecrow, and Ethan = Tin Man.

Am I right? Love those beautiful Steece kids.

Suz, I've been following your blog for a while now and wanted to tell you that I love it. What a wonderful family you have and so super Blessed with these gorgeous children and your hubby. I look forward to your posts!

Hey, if you have the time (???), would you mind letting us know how you got your kiddos to use those Nuby flip-it cups? Been trying to switch my 14-month old twins from the regular sippies to these as the straw I think would be better for them...but they keep tilting it!!! Grrrrr....

Anyways, thanks for keeping all of us in the loop and God Bless You!

Suz, I have been following your Blog for a while now. I just love it and you are a great family. I am always amazed at your stories you have a great style of writing. I have to tell you tears came to my eyes . When I seen what they are going to be. My sister maryann, (passed away in 95 to breast cancer) we use to watch this movie every thanksgiving. It use to be on thanksgiving night and up until she passed away we alway watched the movie together.

Please keep up the great work you guys are doing raising your children. I had a hard enough time raising my now 21 year old submariner (us navy).

Take care and please post pictures as soon as possible after the 31st.

Across the miles.

Ronnie

PS I found you originally from the Wilkinsons.

Dorothy is a no-brainer. I know Ben has to be the cowardly lion. So the twins are up in the air for scarecrow and tin man. =)
I'm guessing Shiloh will be Toto.

I had to say Breaking Free is my favorite of Beth's studies. I'm a big fan and really relate to her style of communication. Just started the Esther one and I am getting so much out of it!

My guess is Ben is the lion, Drew is the Tin Man, Ethan is the Scarecrow and of course little miss Sav is Dorothy! LOVE the idea!!! My son was 3.5 when he started voicing an opinion about what he wanted to be. So you may get next year but then that will probably be it...LOL!!!

I agree...how do you do your Bible Study w/ them awake?! But, I do have to admit that it is so great they are seeing you spend time doing this. I grew up seeing both my parents with their Bibles daily. It has been such an encouragement in my life to do the same (although, I'm STILL not as consistent as they are).

Ooo! A sneak peak! Would ya look at those sweet feet?! Love it!

Valiant effort on the Mama time, but I'm with you. There's no way I could ignore that adorable duo! Better luck next time!

Man I cannot wait to see them in their costumes! I SO wanted to do this theme for our tribe but...
1. I'm not crafty
2. Could not find cute costumes
3. I'm NOT crafty!
LOL! I cannot wait for Halloween myself! Decorations, costumes, trick or treating, the whole enchilada! I just LOVE IT! We are even attending a NICU Hallowen party! Happy Fall!

I love it!! I always wanted to do those costumes with my daughter, son, and cousins....but no one will cooperate with me!! What a perfect setup. Will be awesome memories!! Especially when they get to watch the movie someday.
Here's my guess:
Sav: Dorothy
Ben: Lion (big tears)
Andrew: Tin Man (heart)
Ethan: Scarecrow (silly)

Happy Halloween!

STOP IT... that is sooooo darn cute! Can't wait to see the Wizard crew! FYI- this is the 70th anniversary (or something like that), so get lots-o-attention with the kids. Maybe you'll get on Ellen or Oprah for the Worlds Cutest Kids. Ok, maybe I just want you guys to show the world how cute your children are, and you aren't quite as pumped about that. :)

How stinkin' cute!! You make me want a hand full of kids all at once too...

I'm a new commenter - found your blog through the Gerwer Quads :-) The costume idea is too stinkin cute! I have a 17 month old and 2 1/2 year old, and I can't seem to keep up with my Beth Moore Bible Study, so I'm sure it's twice as difficult for you!

I know exactly what you mean, too about being demons one minute and sweet the next....that is the truth.

I mostly lurk here, but I think that that is the best costume idea for your little gang!

Charla (SHar-la) said...

What study are you doing? I am in a group doing Esther and oh my gosh is it wonderful! I've said it before about other BM studies I've done, but this is the best so far, by far! Definitely you should do it if you haven't already!

And the costumes? Oh my word. How can you not think they are to die for? Those tiny ruby slippers? Fuhget about it!
