All Points Bulletin, Blogger Peeps.

I’ve said that blogging is my therapy- it helps me get through the crappiest of situations…

Well, I guess I’ll give it a try today.

----------------------------------

What’s missing from this picture?…

05 may 2011 010

…oh nothing huge, just our freakin’ 2005 Z71 White Chevy Suburban (fully paid off)…

IMG_4443

with a Texas A&M Association of Former Students sticker and Aggie decal on the back… (you know, just in case you guys happen to see it drive by).

03 march 2011 083

Yep, that’s right kiddos…I’m sorry, but someone stole Mommy’s car right out of her driveway Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

05 may 2011 026-1

I KNOW, RIGHT?!?!!!!!!

(and yep, we are still in our jammies—its been a couple of “those” days. don’t judge.)

Lets do a little recap of my Tuesday (just for the heck of it). I was in a crazy “Suz-redecorating-spring cleaning” mood. I decided to box up a billion toys that were never used. It feels so good to get rid of “stuff” you don’t need, amen?05 may 2011 027

While in my frenzy- I decided that I was going to do some major room reorganization- both downstairs and upstairs.

Tsk, I hope it was worth it…

05 may 2011 003

I took out the leather sofa sectional and moved it upstairs…I was able to bring in 3 different pieces of furniture that had been sitting in the garage- collecting dust for years…….but in order to do that, I had to back out the burb, into our driveway, to make room to maneuver.  *(boy- that smooth move is going to come back to bite me in the behind later!)*

05 may 2011 005

I did LOTS and LOTS of cleaning…notice the vacuum cleaner- full of Shiloh hair. Yuck. There were ungodly things that I found behind those couches.

05 may 2011 028

I wanted the upstairs to be a cozy, comfy lounge area for the kids to watch movies and such.

05 may 2011 007

Its still a work in progress…

05 may 2011 009

I also wanted to make room in the garage for this little kitchen that we are giving to the Tarrant Twins…I knew Liz was coming over the next day or so and didn’t mind keeping my burb in the driveway until then to make room.

05 may 2011 006

Awesome. We HARDLY EVER leave our burb in the driveway. I can count on my fingers how many times it has spent the night in our driveway…

So, Joe gets ready to leave for work on Wednesday morning around 7am and kisses me goodbye while I’m still laying in bed---about to get up and get dressed for work… get the kids dressed and ready for school… you know the drill.

All of a sudden, Joe comes rushing back inside and says, “SUZ. WHERE’S THE BURB?!………WHERE IS THE SUBURBAN?!!!”

Wow. I am still totally out of it and sleepy---my mind just absolutely cannot comprehend the words that are coming out of his mouth.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN, WHERE IS THE SUBURBAN?!!!”

PANIC ATTACK. We both rush outside and just stare blankly for what seems like eternity (probably only about 10-15 seconds)… my heart is pounding out of my chest… it is hard to swallow… I feel dizzy…

The next hour was pretty much a blur.

Cops were called. Reports were taken. And the best part???--- I realized that my wallet was in the console. Yep. Awesome. FREEEEEAKING awesome. I had taken the kids with me to run errands and pick up pizza. I didn’t have enough hands to carry everything in---so instead of making multiple trips, I just threw it in the console and got inside.

Hey, I locked the doors! That’s good enough, right?!

WRONG, MORON.

Joe and I are re-playing all of the what-ifs in our minds. He even contemplated bringing the burb into the garage, but was like, “ehhh…what the heck…it will be perfectly fine in our driveway…its not supposed to storm or anything.”

SMOOTH.

So, I spent all morning on two phones, calling and cancelling everything under the sun. They had already tried to make hundreds of dollars worth of credit card swipes between 2-3am in Plano and Dallas (so, I’m guessing it was stolen around 1:45am).

Peeps- I’m telling you now, go get your wallets out of your car. Take anything valuable out of your wallet. And if you have a garage---don’t EVER leave your car out in the driveway.

Sure we had ipods, dvd’s, 4 brand spankin new carseats in the burb…

03 march 2011 096

but the items that hurt the most- are some hand-made Aggie blankets, from our good friend’s mom (Mrs. Sheedy) that the kids took everywhere. OUCH.

03 march 2011 179

Sentimental stuff, ya know? That one hurt.

I’m usually a pretty positive person, but I must admit that I have been down in the dumps- throwing pity parties for myself. Joe, on the other hand, has been awesome. I’m just completely bummed…laying around in t-shirts and boxer shorts…not wanting to do anything. (Ethan just snapped this shot of me. Lovely.)

05 may 2011 024

So, I am writing this post as one last chance to tell the story and now, I’m going to be done with it. Bad things happen. Time to move on. Chin up, chest out. Its all about perspective. Remember what you have been blessed with and shut your pie hole.

I’m looking forward to this weekend! Joe has made some special plans for my bday and I cannot wait. My birthday falls on Mother’s Day this year (Sunday)---so it will be extra special.

Thanks for your prayers and positive energy. I think I’m turning the corner!

Oh, girl. That just plain stinks. I've never had a car stolen, but I have sure been robbed blind when I was at work before. Ugh! I am so sorry!!!!
I hope you have a good Mother's Day!!

Suz, that is terrible! I'm so sorry for the hassle this will cause you and sad for the ones who stole it. What a sad way to live.

My twin sister & I share a birthday with you...May 8th...so happy birthday and Mother's Day on Sunday! This will be her first mother's day as a mom, as she has a 12 week old little boy and I have an almost two year old little girl. She lives in Dallas and I live in Temple (where we grew up).

I love reading your blog!

Oh my goodness. The worst!!! I pray that everything will be restored back to you times two! (not really sure how, but God is able, right?!)

P.S. - Both of us and our husbands are proud Aggies too. Whoop!

So sorry! I'll keep my eye out in the DFW area. Our neighbors car caught fire last week because someone flicked a cigarette butt out while driving and it landed in their seat. Their windows were down because they only planned to run in for just a minute to get something. Came out to find it in flames. Hope your Mother's Day and birthday are much better.

So sorry to hear this!! I hope they find it!!b

Oh my gosh, that is awful! I'm so sorry!

But just know that these people will surely have to get what is coming to them at some point.

Still....I feel for you! :(

OH MY WORD..THIS TICKS ME OFF! IM SOOO SORRY:(

I am so terribly sorry for you all. I know what you mean about the sentimental stuff. Someone broke into our home when the kids were about a year and a half and stole my laptop computer. Yup...full of picture and the best part is I did not have all of them backed up on our external hardrive. STUPID!

Krystyn @ Really, Are You Serious? said...

Oh, no. So very sorry.

I was once told that the burbs are the hottest vehicles to steal in Texas (the Texas Cadillac).

We had one stolen when I was younger from the gym we were working out at. From right it front. My mom arrived, didn't see the burb, and freaked out thinking we went to the hospital (you know moms...thinking the worst). Fortunately, we were all okay. Unfortunately, the burb wasn't.

Again, so sorry to hear it.

Just think...now you get to go car and carseat shopping.

Frugal Jen said...

Oh no! That is horrible! Who steals from a quad mom?

Glad you posted that we park our Burb outside and keep thinking someone is going to steal it. Too bad it doesn't fit in our garage.

Hopefully they will find it.

Just wanted to add a positive story. My cousin's car wasstolen from his driveway near Houston, and the car was eventually found and returned to them! There was some stuff missing, but some stuff remaining. Hoping the cops find your car with most of the stuff!

Anonymous said...

Im so sorry!, one time, they robbed my house and took my things on the car i left on the driveway!, yeap :(,

but the good thing is: it is a lot of risk driving a stole car so they left my car in a complex, the admin called the police because the car was not from the people there... and we got our car back.
i will pray you can get the suburban back!

Anonymous said...

So sorry to hear about your 'Burb, If you happend to have an active Onstar subscription you can try getting them together with the police to locate it...I hope it's found in good shape soon!

Jenny said...

OHHHH my goodness. I had an "oops" moment this week that resulted in calls to the insurance company and this dumb little mistake costing us ALOT of money and I'm just kicking myself...and, like you, wanting to sit around in my pajamas and mope. Thanks for kicking me in the rear and telling me to move on, things happen!!

So sorry this happened to y'all... hoping you'll be able to recover some (if not all) of your belongings!

Unreal that this stuff happens in a place where you normally feel safe.

Have a great birthday/Mother's Day! Mine 30th is Monday. No one should turn 30 on a Monday.

Nichole said...

I really hope that you get it back, they get caught, you have a great birthday, and everything is still inside the burb as well. All those car seats! Ugh! You just got those too, didn't you? So sorrrrrry!

Tracy said...

So sorry! That really stinks. I've learned one thing in the past 4 months or so tho - if you're feeling crappy about it...sure, be grateful that everyone is ok, but go ahead and feel crappy!! It is ok to grieve the loss - because while the 'burb and the contents may not define you, they are still a part of you!

We lost both vehicles, our garage, and a ton of personal property in a fire this past December - and I still feel crummy and very sad about the things we lost - even though I am grateful that my family and most of my home escaped the fire without injury.

Jessica said...

Oh my gosh, Suz, that is terrible! I cannot believe your car was stolen! Have a big ole' pity party...I know I sure would if my car got stolen. I pray that they track down your car & the ugly person/people that stole it & they get the punishment they so deserve.

Hope you have a fantastic birthday & Mother's Day!

You have every right to hang around in your boxers and t-shirt!! So sorry to hear about the vehicle and EVERYTHING in it. Terrible.

My husband's truck was stolen less than 2 months before our wedding. His truck was parked between 2 huge flags, under many super bright street lights and right off of a very busy interstate and someone still took it! They never found it, but thankfully our insurance company was more than fair replacing it along with at least 1 really expensive item that was inside. As soon as he bought a replacement, he went and got "The Club" and he clubs his truck everywhere he goes. We have one in our SUV too. I really hope they do find yours, but if not, I hope your insurance company is fair!

I am SO SORRY! That really stinks. They're racking up some baaad karma though. Hope everything gets figured out quickly! The upstairs does look nice and comfy for the kiddos :)

How dare you write this post when I'm in the middle of a perfectly good pity party. Who are you to throw a little perspective into things?! ;o)

I am so sorry about your car and I hope they're able to track it down, blankets and all.

SJL~ said...

How awful!!! I hope they find it soon!

I totally had a pity party for myself all week long. We have a rental house and found out that the renters moved out without telling us and DESTROYED the inside of the house prior to leaving. We now have about $10K worth of work. Ugh...Then hubby lost his wallet so we cancelled all our cards only to have someone call that they found his wallet.

The nice thing about a pity party is that when it's over, you always feel a little bit better.

I know exactly how you feel- my car was stolen 2 years ago. In high school I used my savings to buy an old Corvette stingray. My dad and I spent hours upon hours restoring it over the next 2 years.
Years later, my husband and I rented an apartment (in a gated complex, which apparently means nothing) for a couple of months while we were house-hunting. I woke up one morning to head to work and my precious car was just gone. It was stolen sometime in the middle of the night. I had a terrbile pit in my stomach for days. They never caught the guys who did it, but the Corvette was found stripped for parts a couple weeks later. I had to go identify the remains of it at a junkyard. It totally sucked. The insurance company was really great though, and gave me every penny my car was worth. I hope yours does the same. Be on high alert over the next few months as the theives now have your address and all the personal info that was on your driver's license. I'm so sorry this happened to you guys :(

Rebecca said...

That super stinks. I always worry about that because our burb won't fit in our garage.

Maaaaaybe I'll get a club.

Sonya said...

That's terrible & so sad for you! I once had my car stolen and I was about 1000 miles away at the time. I was SO upset! It was the first thing that I had ever owned and I was crushed. Luckily it was found in another part of the apartment complex. Everything was still there, but they left a mess of my school stuff that was packed in the trunk. I hope they find it and the person or people that did it!

Leslie said...

Oh I so know that feeling. My husband and I have both had our cars stolen from our respective houses when we were dating. It is so weird to walk outside and be confused about the location of your car. We both lost tons of sentimental stuff, so we keep very few things on our cars now. Hope they find your car quickly.

Sorry about your car! Now you have an excuse to get Sav the new pink Livia Frontier that just came out!

who would steal a car with four car seats in it???

that is so unsettling.

i once had a stack of mail stolen while our house was on the market. they started using my debit card (which was still safe in my wallet) so we had to change our account numbers. the thief must have had a conscience though because a few days later we received an anonymous letter with all my ultrasound pictures in it. i hadn't even realized they were missing.

i hope everything works out ok for you. thoughts and prayers coming your way from atlanta.

ps—how are you getting around in the meantime? i hope you're not stuck at home!

All I can say is are you FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?!?! Someone stole your car out of your driveway in Arlington, Texas?!?! That is IN-SANITY. Like, I cannot believe this madness one bit. I feel like maybe it's a late April Fool's Joke someone is playing on you or something. WOW! Hang in there!!

I hope your mother's day makes up for it all! you deserve it!

If it would make u feel any better, we live in Lubbock & abt 7 yrs ago my husbands 4 door pick up was stolen. He walked into my babysitters house to take our son inside, stepped in the front door for maybe 2 minutes & walked out and it was gone! Briefcase, carsear, all CDs, wallet, etc. I still to this day cannot write a check at target bc they wrote our checks all over town. So sorry-we've been there!

Oh, I am so sorry! We have to park on a majorly busy street in Los Angeles, as we have neither a garage or a parking spot at our apartment complex. We never leave anything valuable in our car (wallets, phones, strollers, etc.) but I do always think about the fact that we have three fairly new and expensive carseats in there! I hope things work well for you with insurance, and that you can replace the car and seats without too much issue!

KSDallas said...

I have had a car stolen, too, so I know what you are going through. The worst was that I didn't have full coverage insurance. It was paid for so I only kept liability on it. The only thing worse than having your car stolen is to not have any money to get another one. Thankfully my sweet granny loaned me some money. But it was horrible to have to borrow from her and since that day, I will always carry full coverage insurance.

As much as this stings at least you are all safe! That is the most important thing.

Side note: my beagles (Annie and Khloe) said to tell Shiloh hi from them.

I read your blog all the time. This absolutely blew me away when I read about your burb being stolen. And I thought it was bad when we realized that someone had stolen the hood right off our car in our driveway one night. But what was funny they replaced it with another hood, same color, just more scratches. Totally amazes me what people will do. Another friend of mine thought they had their car stolen but the husband drove to the gym but when he left the gym he forget he drove the car there and walked home. He thought he lost his car. Your's is more serious but thought you might like a laugh to help brighten your days. Sherri

But haha No need to worry God is in control :) Hope this doesn't steal your joy from your Mother's Day or Birthday!

Sucks to hear when bad things like this happen to good people. We had a similar thing happen when my husbands wallet and various other things were stolen out of his pickup. Don't be so hard on yourself! The wallet maybe-so lesson learned but there has been a rash of break-ins lately in our area. We live in a nice SW Arlington neighborhood and the other day a home was boken into between between 8:30 and 10:30am when no one was home as evidenced by no car in the driveway. The bad guys knock on the door and when no one answers they break in the door and load the loot into their own truck backed up to the garage. I'm a night worker/day sleeper so we are thinking it might be best to leave my car parked in the driveway...

Aww..how horrible. I know the feeling. Many years ago my hubby's truck was stolen from our apartment building parking lot. The worst part was some of his grandpa's tools were in it at the time. :(. I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine who would *willingly* steal a suburban with the cost of gas as high as it is!! What the devil intends for the bad GOD turns to the good - although it doesn't feel like it right now. Hang it there.

Kat said...

UGHHHH WHO WOULD DO THAT!!! And those car seats- they're so expensive :( I always wonder if people who steal stuff have any kind of heart - when they see 4 car seats and home made blankets, don't they think even for a second - WOW they have 4 kids. This is probably a big deal to them. Go steal someone's car who has 17 of them in their lot instead of someone who has 4 kids. Have a heart!

I am so sorry to read this post. What a stressful and vulnerable time for your family.

I hope that you are surprised with a big fat check from your insurance company, and that you are able to replace your Suburban with a newer one!

Try not to be too hard on your self about leaving your car (locked) in your driveway. I (and all of my neighbors) have on-street parking in Pittsburgh. Our houses are 80 years old and none of our cars fit in our garages. It never occured to me that someone would take my car, because all of our cars are out every night (and mine definitley isn't the nicest!)

As an aside for anyone reading this, make a copy of everything in your wallet once a year, front and back of all cards. Then lock it up in your safe/etc. Makes losing a wallet much less painful.

Hope your birthday and Mother's day was redeptive!
