Almost to 29 and still doing fine...for the most part!

Updates to questions at the bottom!

Sorry about the bad blogging, Blogworld. We have had some computer issues for the past couple of days (the hard drive completely DIED!) So, I'm back to using Joe's old school laptop that only works 25% of the time while my bro works on the other one! Have no fear, I am still here!

Updates...I'm trying to remember some of your questions:

Doc will look at the babies and re-measure them this week sometime. A little over two weeks ago Ben and Savannah were weighing 2 lbs 8 oz. and the twins were weighing 1 lb 13 oz. The twins are significantly smaller than the other two, but still healthy and nothing to worry about...pretty much expected.

Still NO contractions...the nurses are dumbfounded! One nurse said that some mothers of twins will come in at 24 weeks having tons of contractions and I have nothing. I get hooked up for tocolytic monitoring every day for one hour...no contractions, but lots of "irritability", meaning the babies kick like crazy when the sensor is attached to my belly. It is SO funny.

You know how I was having difficulty breathing due to the babes being all up in my diaphragm? Well, oddly enough, over the weekend the position of the babies dropped! Hard to explain, I will take a pic of it. They are sitting VERY low on my belly now...so weird! (maybe getting into position for delivery?) I am told that it is normal and nothing to worry about. I don't feel any cervical pressure or anything and I am breathing better...but unfortunately, sometimes they are pressing against my sciatic nerve which does NOT feel good!

The diabetes is VERY annoying! I get my finger pricked FOUR times a day to test my blood sugar levels. I receive THREE different insulin injections a day. (at breakfast, dinner, and 9pm) My blood sugar is still higher than I would like. It seems like no matter what I eat or don't eat, it will still be elevated. FRUSTRATING. Can't wait to kick this diabetes once the babies are born! I am completely determined!

So, tomorrow will make 29 weeks!! Keep those prayers coming for 30 weeks! I have been told that every day after 30 weeks equals 3 days less that the babies would have to spend in the NICU! I can't believe I'm about to have these babies! It feels so far away, yet is right around the corner! Ahhhh!!! I'm getting nervous.

An awesome PLUS has been that Dr.Tabor gave me wheelchair priviledges! I cannot tell you how incredible it feels to get wheeled outside and feel the hot, humid, icky, Texas, summer heat and wind on my face!...the most amazing feeling in the world right now! ;) Just to be able to get out for 15 minutes in a wheelchair...its what I look forward to all day! (so sad, right?)

Okay, so I think I have covered almost everything...please leave a comment with any other questions you have and I will add them to the bottom of this post!

Oh yes, forgot to add that I received the steroid injections of Celestone to help my babies' lungs develop a couple of weeks ago! One word: OUCH! But well worth it! Hopefully they have been growing by leaps and bounds! ;)

MORE UPDATES TO QUESTIONS ASKED:

Hopefully I will get to see Shiloh this weekend! She has been on vacation and getting VERY spoiled with my parents in Waco for the past couple of weeks (b/c Joe comes to the hospital every night...poor Shi would be so neglected). This Sunday my parents are driving in for the day to celebrate my bro's birthday and will leave Shi at our house. Everyone will end up at my hospital room for cake and what-not. So, when my dad is about to leave, Joe will drive back (20 minutes) to the house to pick up Shi and bring her to the hospital to get into my dad's car...that it when I will hug and LOVE on my baby girl like you wouldn't believe!! (can you tell that I have thought about this ad nauseum?) can't wait!!!

I am 5'8 (barely) and pre-pregnancy weighed around 137...I have always been blessed with a LONG and WIDE torso (which I hated all growing up)..but I guess God was gearing me up for something else, eh? Pre-pregnancy I wore an (abnormal) size 6 to 6.5 shoe TINY...but now that I have been pregnant, I have noticed that my feet have grown at least half a size! Thank goodness! Maybe NOW I'll look more proportional! ;)

Yes, I will have many people helping with the babies and laundry and bottle washing and dish washing and preparing meals. Thank God for family, friends, and an amazing church family who are getting all of this together for us!! As far as how long we will need the help? HA! I'm hoping for the next 18 years! hahaha... ;)

We have not yet gotten our quad-mobile, but we still have a while and worst comes to worst, we can make our jeep commander work for a brief period of time!

hmmm...as far as press and media coverage go...why do we need it? We have our wonderful supporters of Blogworld!! :) Seriously, it really isn't something that Joe and I are seeking out. Now, if someone wants to give us a free quad-mobile and asks us to be in a commercial or what-not, we would gladly do it. ;) We are not "opposed" to it...we just aren't seeking it out.

Still gonna work on posting some pics, so these blog postings don't get too boring, but I'm not sure if this computer will recognize my digital camera (yes, this computer IS that old...and no, don't ask me where my software CD is!)

Did I already tell you that now I can trace the babies body parts? Yeah, sometimes I will find a knee or elbow sticking out and its so funny! I'm also trying to catch on video when my babies are kicking...you can see it from the outside of my belly! Its WILD! There is like a ripple effect on my stomach...so weird!

OK, I think I'm caught up on Suz Q & A time! Thank you so much for your continued kind words and encouragement! We appreciate it SO much!

I'm new to your blog. I was on bedrest for a long time with my triplets, and I cried uncontrollably once I got outside in the fresh air for my first 15 minutes of wheelchair privilege. Thank god for the nurse that recommended it to him. I felt so alone in the world, even though I had piles of friends and family. Hang in there, let's hope you keep them baking for as long as possible!

You are amazing and are doing so well. Hang in there...not much longer! Can you believe they are going to be in your arms soon? Just know that all this is the hardest part and you are doing great! And wow...has your blog blown up or what??? Craziness! Is that a hit at the North Pole? ps...Ryan wanted to let you know he was your hit from Hong Kong over the last two weeks while he was in China for business! Enjoy your outings!

Suzanne,

I commented to you on one of your recent blogs. I found out I am pregnant a few weeks ago. Well Friday I found out I am having triplets! I am scared to death. Totally freaking out. Completely overwhelmed, but excited at the same time. I want to know how dealt with all of this early on and if you ever got to a point where you weren't as freaked out. Also, how tall are you? I tried comparing myself to you (height wise) and it looks like you may be taller than me. I am barely 5'4" and have a very short torso and I don't know where I am going to put these babies.

Hi Suz,

I got your blog from the Murray Crew Quad blog and have been following faithfully since they first posted it. I am so glad you are doing so great! And the babies too! That is awesome. He really is an Awesome god!!

Since you can have wheelchair privileges, does that mean someone could bring your baby Shi to the hospital for you to seel--even if for only 15 minutes?? That would be great if someone could. :)

Hang in there, you are doing great. You're in the home stretch and your attitude is utterly amazing. You're in my thoughts and prayers every day!!!

You are doing so great. I don't have to tell you how amazing 29 weeks is! Hooray for you and those babies. Enjoy your rides, its amazing how wonderful it is to have something, no matter how small, to look forward to. I am glad you are breathing easier, but the other pain you mentioned is terrible too, I have had it! Diabetes has really been tough, ((HUGS))!

Hi Suzanne!

I'm another one of those people that you don't know, but have recently been following your blog for encouragement. I'm expecting triplets in the fall and am feeling completely overwhelmed, scared and excited all at the same time. Your story has been such an inspiration to me and I am so amazed at your progress!!! I am keeping you, your husband and those 4 little ones in my prayers! You're doing great and I hope you know that you are really inspiring those of us out there expecting higher order multiples (I can't even imagine what it would be like to expect quads!).

I wish you all the best in these next few weeks to come! I'm praying for you and love all of your helpful suggestions on bedrest..I will be there soon (am 16.5 wks, dr. said I will go on restricted bedrest at 20 wks.)

Take care of yourself!!!

Congrats girl you are doing great. It sounds like you will be having the quads around the same time I have Isabelle. Even though we do not know each other except through our stories we will share the fact that we faced and overcame fertility issues and had healthy babies!!! Keep up the good work and rest! I pray for you and those babies each day!

You are an amazing Christian woman, and I commend you for giving life to these four babies when so many would have went through SR. I will keep your family in my prayers! Keep on doing a great job!!

Whew! I'm so glad your babies are still in there! I was worried for a bit. I found your blog through a friend of a friend and started reading when I was about 6 months prego (only with one though). I pray for you and the babies regularly and cannot wait to watch them get grow up---that is, IF you can find the time to post. Best of luck with the next few weeks!

I'm so relieved you've come this far! Been on holidays with no internet (good holidays, though...) and was wondering about you... Our quads were born week 26 (weighing from 1 lb 15 oz (is that a number? I'm calculating from metric here...) to 2 lb 6 oz (or just about...)) and are just fine, now 7 years old. The good part of them being born so early is I didn't have to stay in hospital before they were born - when I was going in they came out ;)

If at all interested, I'll give you access to our family blog, but I'll need an email for that... (My email's on my profile.)

Keep up the good work :) Best of luck - and greetings from Norway..

Yeah!! I am glad you have made it to 29 weeks. My guys came at 29 weeks so I am praying for you to carrying them longer!! And it is true everyday after 30 days is 3 days less in the NICU. We stayed 7 weeks and 10 weeks at the Harris NICU. We made lots of friends, they became my second family. Good Luck and I am continuing to pray for you.

Wow! I'm so happy you've gotten to 29 weeks! So sorry to hear about the diabetes. Is that something you've always had, or is it a side effect of having quads (gestational diabetes). I ask, because I've seen your before pics and you're such a tiny little thing, it couldn't be Type 2 diabetes.

With all of us silly addicts wanting to see your progress and hear of funny stories, you will have to consider writing a book sooner or later. Hey, you have the readers! Haaaa, kidding! Enjoy the sticky Texas air, the walls of your hospital room, and the smell of fresh flowers entering your room. Before you know it, you'll have the precious smell of 4 babies heads and hands to smell. Nothing like it.

MadtownMom said...

Hooray for 29 weeks...7 more days 'til 30. I know our doctor kept saying that 30 weeks was the magic number for her.

I know what you mean about those steroid shots. YOWZA! I had them with my last two children and yikes. I can't believe how MUCH they hurt.

It's good you can breathe....and I'm glad you don't feel cervical pressure. It felt like my little girl was punching as hard as she could to get out...NOT a pleasant feeling.

We're praying for at least 7 more days for you...but greatful you've made it this far. I remember at this point in my bedrest just starting to relax a bit and let myself realize that I really was going to have a baby that was going to be ok. It was nice when the good thoughts started outweighing the bad ones.

Hang in there with the bedrest. I know what you mean about loving the 15 minutes outside. I looked forward to my dr. appt every week because I got to leave the house for an hour...but then I'd need to nap as soon as I'd get home...and my pelvic bone felt like it was going to crack in two just from being upright for a little while.

We're still thinking of you!!

Amanda's News said...

Yeah 29 weeks today:) I know God will bless those babies with some more time in your belly. That is great that you haven't had any contractions and it sounds like those babies are growing strong. Can't wait to see pictures of your belly and how it has changed. I'm glad you are doing well and are able to wheel outside for some fresh air. Sucks that you have to go through all the pricking of your fingers, but hey whatever it takes to keep you on the right track. YOu are in our prayers!

Question:Who will be helping you when the babies get here and for how long? Have you gotten your vehicle yet that accomodates all the babies?

Unknown said...

Hi! I recently found your blog through a friend of a friend :) Your blogs are so encouraging and upbeat. I myself am expecting identicals and am 17 weeks right now. when I found your blog I figured if you can survive this roller coaster with 4 I can certainly make it with two. I can't believe you are at 29 weeks..that is such a miracle! I pray for you daily as I pray for myself and my wee ones. Can't wait to see the miracle pan out for both of us! Good luck these last few weeks.

I am so happy to hear that you are doing so well considering. Way to go on the 29 weeks. You go girl! That's so fun that your babies are making themselves known so much. It's always a great feeling to know they are moving around and doing well. Like the doctors say every extra day makes a big difference in the babies time in the NICU so you are right on track and doing fantastic. Praying for 30 weeks or more if possible!

From one Quad mom to another: Get that last bit of rest while you can and take care. Thinking of you!Liz

hooray for wheelchair privileges! We're big fans of wheelchair privileges! :)

And I am so unbelievably jealous, woman! Here I am with a mere 75% of the babies that you have and I'm having contractions up the whazoo and on a freaking terbutaline PUMP to keep them under control for crying out loud! And I'm four weeks behind you!! (I'll be 25 weeks tomorrow) Then again, I can't complain, because I'm lying in bed at home, so I should count my blessings.

I think of you every single day. Literally, I wake up every morning and say to myself, "Thank you God for giving me triplets and not quadruplets, because I don't know how Suzanne does it!"

Next week I get my screening for GD and I'm not looking forward to it. I have enough going on without finding out I have GD too, so I'm dreading the possibility. Here's hoping it's not an issue.

My visitors would have to keep their coats ON when they came in. Anyway, I know that your are looking forward to Shiloh's visit! Have a good one!
