Fun with Toys

Sorry I have been taking forever to blog! Not much going on around here...I have been busy cleaning out baby closets and drawers of clothes they can't wear (Don't you parents feel like you do this every month??? It sure does feel that way!) I've also been cleaning out MY closet of clothes I simply cannot wear anymore. My body has been so strangely morphed by pregnancy...things just don't fit the way they used to! (can I getta "amen"?) ;)

The babies are doing great...getting VERY excited about being able to get out in public soon and taking lots of walks! We've been working on holding our own bottles, sitting up without assistance, and crawling. I say to myself: "Hmmm...do we reeeeally want to teach them how to crawl?" haha...Yes, of course.

Sav is all smiles and happy...except when we are trying to feed her. NO APPETITE! She is giggling more and more every day (if that is possible) and it cracks me up every time. Ethan is such a sweetie and definitely going to be my sensitive baby...he is starting to show signs of crying when he sees a "stranger". Ethan is by far the best "sitter". Drew is still the best eater...it is uncanny. He grabs that bottle and goes to town! Drew is also scooting on his back and can clear some serious distance! Ben is doing well...holding his bottle when HE wants to and sitting without assistance...such a ham and a cuddle bug. They have all been sleeping two at a time in their port-a-cribs/play yards at night...we are practicing for when we go out of town!

Morning pics:

Drew and his bottle...watch out, he will fight you for it!

Ben felt like holding his bottle too!

Savannah and Ethan playing at the table...putting anything and everything into their tiny little mouths

Watching the quads play with their toys is so funny to me. Ethan will hoard all of his toys onto his lap, and they rarely move. Drew is the same way. He will pick one toy and chew on it the entire time. Ben and Savannah, on the other hand...slide their arms around and send toys flying off the table or pick up toys and bang them as hard as they can. When they are finished with one toy (which is usually after about 10 seconds) they will launch it off the table onto the floor.

I was trying to catch some of it on video...Sav had just gotten finished throwing all of her toys around (you can only see the very end of it) and realized there were no more in front of her...the contrast between Ethan's side verses Sav's side cracks me up...(I know you guys could care less...but the Grandparents might get a kick out of it)

The thought of mobility is sure scary. Going to have to dust off those running shoes soon. It is fun to see their "play" personalities coming out. They all have such amazing smiles - we love it!
If you don't already have the hitch adapter for the Runabout, it is definitely worth the money.

Suz - You don't know me but I read your bolg everyday. It gives me such inspiration to see you as a mom of 4. I have a son who is 11 months and there are days that I wonder what in the world I am doing. You are such a great mom and I just wanted to introduce myself.

Suz,
Thank you for adding a photo of Beth, Brad and John. You are so funny! Beth spent some time and shared more stories of her trip to Texas with the Steece fan club of Minnesota!
Best,

That is too funny, Sav is saying, 'hey Ethan, could you spare a toy over here!'

Cute, thanks for sharing and AMEN to the changing body! I didn't have 4 at once but have 3 spread over 7 years and my body in NOT a wonderland! ;) (thanks John Mayer!)

Welcome to ALL the joys of motherhood! Crawling babies, clothes that don;t fit your body, tons of kids clothes that don't fit their bodies, etc. Now you know why McMoms has that semi-annual garage sale each and every year! You guys and the kids all look great. I enjoyed the blog today, as always!

I think ALL of your blogs are fun and interesting to read! (And I'm not one of the grandparents, aunts, cousins, etc.) I bet ya'll will have a blast traveling with your quads. Keep the pictures and stories coming - your little ones are SO fun to hear about!

I think Ethan is playing with the Hello Bee, Hello Me book? This is currently my daughters favorite toy. She just loves to sit and chew on the cover.

Esp for Allie my NOSY one:) AMEN to the body thing...my poor belly looks like an atlas with LOTS of interstates:) BUT i LOVE what it did for us and wouldn't trade it because the babies were SOO worth it!
Also i so feel like you're reading my mind...LITERALLY every time i go to sort out their clothes i say to myself...didn't i JUST do this a couple weeks ago..well yes--but they're constantly growing--duh:)anyway...now that i've written a novel echoing you:) love ya guys!

I was obsessed with your blog during your pregnancy, since I was pregnant with a singleton baby the same age. Now, I don't get a chance to look as often b/c I am so busy with her and my 2 year old. When I do though, I just can't fathom having 4 of her! You and your hubby are just doing a fantastic job with them and I love the videos and pics. Thanks for your laid back attitude and for continuing to blog! Totally random, but do you "cross feed" your quads? (i.e., give them all a bite from the same spoon?) I just can't imagine being able to coordinate 4 separate spoons during the same feeding time...I'm sure they mouth each other's toys all the time anyway, so why not?

Suzanne...I love reading your blog. Of course I love the video of the kids playing....my little boy was born July 20, so he's only a week or so older than yours. So I can relate to the "no attention span". He finally started sitting good...scoots everywhere. Thats good some of yours are sitting. I was born really prematurely at like 29wks....and I didn't really sit good until 12mos. So you're doing a great job. All kids develop at their own pace....I know you know that, but it's sometimes nice to hear. On another note...I'm an RN as well, and have been at home now for almost a year...I kinda miss it sometimes, but love being home with the kids. Was just wondering if you miss working at all (nursing)?

They are growing up WAY too fast Suz!!! It's great to see them holding bottles and hording toys... your life is about to get so much easier! Don't be afraid of mobility... you can hang mama! I have faith in ya! :)

I say DITTO to the hitch comment from Chris! I'd be lost without mine.

And... I'm giving you a big fat standing AMEN- in the clothes dept!!! I don't EVEN want to talk about it. What are we supposed to do come swim suit season?????? AHHHHH!.. and it's been two years for me. Just the thought makes me squirm! OHHH WELL.. I wouldn't give up my babes for my old body.. but I sure wouldn't turn down a tummy tuck! LOL

Love you guys!
XOXO

Something must be in the air. I've gone through my clothes and my baby girl's. Spring fever! I'm impressed that you even managed to do that with four!

I have commented a few times and been following your blog every day... I can not believe how fast they have all grown! They seem to be doing SO well in he development area!!! It is incredible! I compare them to my own son who was a term (to the date) baby and is now 18 months old and I compare their developmental milestones to his- and it is like they were never premature!

And you look so great. It has been 18 months for me and I still have 25 baby pounds to lose!

XOXO

I do care who has what toys :)! It is so cute to see them grow each time a new picture comes up! I can not believe they are eight months already!!!
The quads and I have the same birthday, so I know their first birthday is just around the corner!!!
SO glad they like to play and have fun. Hope Sav's appetite comes back soon!

Your kids are TOOOO cute!
I agree, I am constantly cleaning out drawers or closets, or trying to organize, and I guess I get interrupted cause then I go back, 2, 6, 9 months later, and I'm like OOOHHH what a bummer, I didn't know we had these clothes and now they're too small. Or, wow, we have 6 pairs of boy swim trunks size 18 mo's. Good thing I just bought another 4 today for this summer....;)
You have three boys vs my two, and for some reason boy clothes take up a lot of space although my girl has A LOT more of them. It's weird.
Anyway. You seem like such a great girl and I wish I lived closer to you and we could have a play date. when you're out of 1st season RSV isolation.... ;)

Suz,
I've read and enjoyed your blog for awhile but never commented before. Your quads were born on my due date - my son was born the next day (Aug. 2)! It sounds like they're doing awesome developmentally for being preemies. Let me tell you, the world of crawling is a whole new ball game - good luck keeping track of them! And amen to the body morph - I only had one baby, and I feel your pain!

i loved the video (and all your pics too)! what a crew! my baby, adelaide, is 3 months old now and i watch in amazement to see all the things she can do in less than 6 months!
we also just found out that she has some kidney problems, reflux, etc. and it was SO nice to read all about your explanations of 1-5 score of reflux, and other medical aspects of it on your previous posts. i am sorry y'all are dealing with it too, but i am thankful you have shared. you are a source of comfort and inspiration big time!

And I got your AMEN on the body never being the same after pregnancy! :)

Suz,

They are adorable. I have been following your blog for some time now and am always amazed at how big the quads are getting. I love the fact that you are so patient and laid back.

One quick question - How did you get so SKINNY after having 4 babies? Is it that you have 4 babies to run after and I only had one? I am still carrying my baby fat from 9 years ago. Tell me your secret. You look great.

In Him,
Kelly and family

Cute video! Its amazing to look back at when they were first born up until now and how amazing they are to be holding their bottles.

I keep a plastic tub in the bottom of my twins closet so that any time I get something out for them to wear and it's too small, I just throw it in - keeps the "clean out" sessions shorter :) Hope that helps!

I love your blog...I check on you guys every day and love to see what's happening with the babies! I thought of you guys tonight...have you ever thought of going on the "Dirty Jobs" show? They are trying to get more shows...and us stay-at-home moms only know how dirty this job can be...I can only imagine 4x!! Just a thought :)
