Happy Birthday, Baby Carter!!!

We celebrated Carter's 1st birthday this weekend!
Ashley, Carter, Collin

It was SUCH a cute party with adorable green frogs everywhere---my sis-in-law, Ashley is BEYOND talented and made all of the decorations by hand! I had to get some pics of the party from my Dad, seeing as how I was busy keeping up with 4 crazy 2 year olds the whole time. Collin and Ashley- you are incredible parents and that precious little nephew of mine is SO blessed to call you Dad and Mom. It has been a true joy, watching you bring home this bundle of love and raising him to be such a kind-hearted soul. I love you.

Little Baby Carter, (I guess I can't really call you baby Carter anymore)---you are the sweetest, most adorable, best little baby boy that I have EVER met. I am in love with your bright, blue eyes and dazzling smile......SO proud to be your Auntie Suz! LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

In other news, my Facebook status currently reads:
"Waving the white flag today. I am outnumbered and EXHAUSTED..."
Do you guys ever feel like this? That pretty much sums up what has been going on the last couple of weeks around here! I am overwhelmed with life right now...the yelling, fighting, screaming, whining, toy-taking, attitude, blatant disobeying, etc. Our days are either really, reeeeeally good----or really, reeeeeally bad. But its all part of raising 4 precious and wonderful little individuals, right?...

RIGHT?!!!!?!?!!!!!!!

(I have to give myself peptalks)

And Please pardon the 'ole bloggin' funk. I just can't get in the blogging mood...but I'll get there soon.

Promise. ;)

Suz,

I have one son, about one month younger than your kids. He also hit the push Mommy as far as she can go button... it's definatey fun well sometimes not so much but I would not change it for the world. Hang in there, I see a date night in your near future!

My son is also flirting with the idea of giving up on his nap. NOOOO that's Mommy's only break in the day :(

Love your blog, kids are adorable. Savannah looks great, can you post or comment back on my blog about how her health (kidney function) is doing. Her eye surgery really worked wonders. Ben oh he is the exact personality of my Nicholas, if we were closer they would be friends for life! The twins, OMG their smile is awesome! All of the quads are getting so big!

Your pals up North!
Stacy

PS) Sean Carter is a year already? WOW that was fast!

Love your honesty and completely agree and understand about the frustration of raising four 2-year-olds. You are doing a GREAT job! Hang in there.

Someone once said this to me "The days are long but the years are short" - I often tell myself this when I have a tough day with the kiddos....sometimes it helps....a little! LOL! Keep your chin up, love reading your blog :o)

Hang in there girl!! In a blink of an eye they will be off to their prom:( This is a tough age and it WILL get better. It's hard cause they are all the same age at ONCE and they feed off each others energy...both good and bad. I remember this age with my twins being really hard. I would always tell my hubby that many days it was like one huge play date that we could never leave!!! It's hard to get the down time you need. You are doing a fabulous job raising little gentlemen and a little lady. Their spouses will thank you for it one day! My boys are 4 1/2 now and so much better! Their 2 year old sister reminds us of different times:) Kick back, relax and take some time off. The blog can wait!!! Some days I think juggling a 12 hour shift as a nurse would be easier:) Then I think: the green grass on the other side of the fence is probley being fertilized by some smelly brown stuff too:)

Loving these comments!! The one about the green grass on the other side is fertilized with brown stuff too... AWESOME! Days are long but years are short, that may be my new motto! Love your readers Suz, so therefore I LOVE YOU!!! I love you so much, hate you're in a funk, hate that your kids hate you today! Please know that in this well fertilized with lots of stinky brown stuff area over here in Mississippi, we LOVE OUR STEECE'S!

I'll admit I have waved the white flag MANY times in the past almost 12 years of raising multiples. But somehow, they want to take the flag, fight over it, play with it, and ultimately destroy it (just kidding, sort of)... all in a day's journey!

S-
I follow your blog faithfully (found you through a friend's blog) and I love watching your 4 grow! They are precious!!

But, concerning your white flag... I *only* have twins, so I don't really have any idea how long, hard and rewarding your days are... but I will say, from age 2.5ish to 4 were very hard here. "Terrible Twos" is the myth. That time here was fine. I thought "My kids are wonderful. Everyone is wrong." Then, someone told me "Three is the new two" and she was right! You're right on the edge of what might be a trying year. But, hang in there. After turning 4, my two have really taken a much greater interest in playing together. (They did before, but now, it's more genuine, for lack of a better term) There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for listening,
Jill

Suz.... we are right there with you.... how can these amazingly wonderful precious siblings get so U L G Y? I was just telling a friend today - we have a cuple of GREAT days and then one really, bad one... and today is a BAD one for us too! I can remember my mom saying over and over again.... "Can't you two just get along?" Now I say it to my 2 yr old twins and 3 year old son!

In a book I read recently - it said that God gave us these exact children cuz HE knew that no matter what they do or how they act - if we lean on HIM we have the exact parentling skills they need us to have to help mold them into what Christ has for them.... somedays that promise is the ONLY thing that gets me through...

well, maybe some chocolate too! ;0)

Here is the deal: I really liked your honesty. There are days that I feel like my twinkies will break my spirit. We are at the complete DEFIANCE stage! UGH! You are one tough cookie and hear it now: I admire your strength! Hang in there, girlfriend. You are going to earn your reward!; ) Won't it be great to be a grandma?????

Hugs,
J

It's something in the water around here girl!! LOL

DD just spilled milk, intentionally, on her twin brother because she wanted to sit where he was sitting and he wasn't getting up.

Not only did she do something MEAN, but liquid isn't supposed to leave the kitchen. Thank goodness for dogs!! LOL

Girl I have a 21 month old and am preggo with number 2 and I wave my white flag several times week---with only 1 kid!

What an incredible, godly mom you are! Thanks for setting the bar high for the rest of us. ;)

Sorry you've been feeling that way, but I have to say it is a relief to know that I'm not the only one. I only have ONE 2 year old, but I just told Jeffrey today he would be very lucky to come home and still have a daughter! I live for those really good days!!!

Girl, I am right there with you! I "only" have 2 two-and-a-half-year-olds and I've been feeling this way lately too. I can only imagine how much things are intensified for you! (Mine will turn 3 on August 6, so they're very close in age with the Pieces.)

Hang in there - I will remember to say a special prayer for you tonight, that God will give you extra amounts of grace to get through this fun & busy, but very exhausting and trying stage!

Here's to blissful THREES!!!

My daughter is now 14 1/2. There is one thing that I can tell you... someday not too far off - most of these "bad" days won't even be a part of your memories. When you do think about the especially bad ones - you will laugh. I know it doesn't help much right now, but there is hope! Dealing with a teenage girl, I have to remind myself of that a LOT. Just take it day by day and stand firm. They will thank you for it someday.

Oh.My.Goodness, I needed this today. My twins are three and it feels like I start every day as a referee! I think I am more tired now than when they were infants. It has been inspiring to read all the comments and know that I am not alone, and that I am not the world's worst mom! Everyone goes through it! WHEW!!!

I can't believe that Sean's namesake is a year old already! He is adorable...how Collin was involved in creating such a cute kid is beyond me. Kidding!

As for your kiddos, hang in there! You are an amazing mom and an inspiration to me. I hope that we can be as great with our one on the way as you & Joe are with your four little ones!

Love & miss you all!

Well, I have a 4 year old girl and a gonna be 2 year old boy. Some nights I go to bed wondering how I still have hair on my head. I am a stay at home mommy and trust me, I never knew it could be so hard. But I completely agree with the either really really good or really really bad, I would love to just have a in between day, not really pushing for the really really good, even tho it would be nice!! You aren't alone and don't feel bad, I think we all go thru it, you just 4 times the fun. I must say tho, better you than me. lol

Glad I finally caught up on your blog tonight!
I have been giving myself peptalks daily lately too! My 4 1/2 year old and almost 3 year old twins are definitely in "challenge Mommy mode"...so, you are not alone. Lately I feel much more like a referee than a Mom. The fact that none of them nap anymore is really, really difficult. I'll continue to check back on you because you always have the best attitude and often provide my pep-talk without even knowing it!
So, thank you, and hang in there!
Nicole
