How Our Kids View Our Family

This is hilarious. Last week when I went to pick up the kids from school, they had these art projects on the wall outside of the classroom. They are in the shape of a house with “The Steece Family” at the top.

The kids were supposed to look through magazines and pick out pictures that reminded them of each member of the family. I’ll start with the best and work my way down…

Savannah

God love you, Savannah Leigh. Tea Leoni? Uhh…I’ll TAKE IT! With a fashionable Joe and relatively “similar” looking siblings. Of course she has pigtails and is eating a cupcake. Sav even went as far as to match Ethan in green and Drew in blue. Wow. Nice work, girlfriend!

Ethan

Mom is still fashionable- I’m down with the long, blonde hair. Dad is a wee bit older (but still good looking) with salt-n-pepper hair. Ethan and Andrew look very similar---nice work. Ben is a tad younger. And, ahem, Sav is a cute African-American 10 year old. LOL.

Benjamin

First off, I am a grandma who closely resembles Jane Lynch! Really Ben? Is THAT how you view me?! Thanks, dude. LOL. Joe looks good- like an Aggie yell leader. He’ll like that. The kids all look pretty “similar”…so, just Mama got the raw end of the deal on this one. Ha!

Andrew

Andrew…oh, Andrew Paul Steece. You are a different breed and I love you for that. I laughed SOOOOOOO HARD when I saw “Joe”---I’m pretty sure I disrupted all the classrooms in the hallway. Ha-la-rious. Mom is okay (a little “homely”). Ethan looks similar. Ben is a red-head with freckles. Andrew is African-American. And Sav is Asian.

Bwahahaha. God love Andrew…our quirky little genius.

I laughed out loud multiple times and am now wiping the tears. My hubby doesn't get why I'm crying even as I tried to explain. Favorite was the Aggie Yell Leader.

I was laughing so hard I was crying and my face was contorted. Hilarious. (Grandma was hilarious. Thank goodness you have 4 opinions to go by, including Tea Leoni, instead of just "grandma"!)

I kept laughing harder and harder as I went down the list. I think tears started somewhere when grandma made her appearance...but bald old guy was a topper on the cake. This is totally something my kids would do!

Other than reliving the story of when an escaped con hid in my grandma's garage while she was washing the car topless and she ran to the neighbor's house, this was the best laugh I had all day! Thanks!

SOOOO funny!!! But also I loved the little window into the future (or present!!!) it gave...Sav so attentive to all the little details of each of you...and then each of the boys less and less so! So interesting!!

I'm still wiping away tears after reading perhaps the funniest thing ever written. This was absolutely the highlight of my week! Thank you for sharing!

Hilarious!! You know the bald guy is Christopher Lloyd... he's, um, interesting. He used to host a home decor show and would sometimes dress as a woman in his show to present his tips for decorating. I've never met y'all, but he doesn't strike me as much like Joe. Too funny!

I liked reading your comments before checking out the pictures. Of course, by the bottom, I laughed out loud beforehand whens spotting Joe's picture.

Looks like Andrew is all about diversity. : )

Awesome! I remember being that age. Race wasn't a "thing". Boy and girl was just starting to be a "thing". All the "things" that divide us are heaped onto us by adults/society. What a nice reminder -- and so cute!

Oh gosh, I was laughing SOOOO hard, making these weird walrus noises, my eyes watered up so badly!! It started when I saw Ethan's 'Savannah' then Ben's 'Mom' and Drew's everything... especially the 'Dad'! I would stop laughing and then look at the screen and start laughing all over again! Soooo funny!
